Losing Weight - Best of both worlds

Post by snazzybabe » Mon Aug 08, 2005 2:45 am

Low-carb or high-carb which is best. This guy reckons both:

So on his plan this is what happens:
Mon, Wed, Fri - all day low-carb
Tue, Thur - all day high-carb
Saturday - breakfast and lunch high-carb and dinner whatever
Sunday - breakfast and lunch low-carb and dinner high-carb

Only 3 meals per day, no snacks and wine on high-carb days only.
I like the idea of been able to have bread, rice and pasta which you can't have on the traditional low-carb diet until maintenace.
Its similar to some of those low-carb cyclic diets out there.

What about A Vegemite Sandwich ??

I have been eating one meal a day, its probably less than 2h000 calories a day. (most days). I have been doing this since the first of July. Its working, I am able to get into old clothes. So I know it works.

I think that there is a direct relationship between Pounds/Calories

I.E .. if you want to weigh 120 .. eat 1200 calories a day.

Since I regularly think it's Tuesday when it is in fact Monday (or Thursday when it's Friday) I would get confused.

I eat according to how hungry I am which, in turn, corresponds to how much exercise I'm doing. Carbs tend to be the things that increase or decrease the most to vary the size of the meal.

Your body doesn't necessarily cycle on a daily basis; what you eat today affects you tomorrow (which is a shame, because otherwise no-one would get fat or have hangovers). All that happens with alternating days is that the same quantity of food is consumed in different sized portions. If I eat a large meal one evening, I'll often only need a light lunch the following day.

Don't get hung up on food types beyond the basics; eat a balanced diet and stop listening to all the pseudoscientific extremism. Carbs are not good or bad; they're part of a balanced diet and necessary for a healthy body. Every food contains them to some degree and diets that rely on restricting food groups are unsustainable.

Sorry, that turned into rather more of a rant than I intended.

hello all,
That sounds like an interesting plan but what is a "vegemite sandwich"? I would not like to eat the same thing every day, or is it really great?

Have you tried using more veggies and fruits, especially raw? I find it helps me to lose weight.

Vegemite

Post by MitchellKing » Fri Sep 12, 2008 2:20 am

Vegemite is a dark brown savoury food paste, made from leftover brewers' yeast extract, a by-product of beer manufacturing, and various vegetable and spice additives. The taste may be described as salty, slightly bitter, and malty - somewhat similar to the taste of beef bouillon.

It was mentioned in a song by Men at Work ... Down Under ..

I said, "Do you speak-a my language?"
He just smiled and gave me a Vegemite sandwich.

I mentioned it to tease Snazzy .. I tried it once .. its .. Horrid
