Wouldn't that be funny?
I suspect it's the way-too-beautiful xmas cookies that are making me crave cookies. _________________ http://howsrobb.blogspot.com/ |

I think persimmon trees are so lovely! They are interesting all year. I lucked out on getting some of the fruit passed on to me this Christmas. _________________ I don't count calories. I count plates. Three a day.

Friday
Breakfast -- latte and a persimmon
Elevenses -- a banana and a persimmon
Lunch -- a cheese sandwich and a persimmon
Dinner -- pasta and brussel sprouts, two slices of stolen
Two notes:
1. I start my "weekend" on Friday night, and end it before dinner on Sunday.
2. Even though I told the folks at the deli counter that I couldn't have tomatoes or peppers on my sandwich, they put on hot pepper relish, which resulted in an *awesome* allergic reaction. Good thing I didn't have any thingn important to do that afternoon at work. _________________ http://howsrobb.blogspot.com/ |

I already don't remember what we cooked and ate on Saturday, except that we made a beautiful bittersweet chocolate *sourdough* cake for New Year's Dinner. Sourdough cake? Who knew?
Sunday
Breakfast -- something like a vegetarian eggs benedict on home baked sourdough bread, latte
Lunch -- bean and veggie burritos
Dinner -- green beans with almonds, and a slice of cake
We visited some neighbors who are keeping chickens, to look at their set-up. We brought over some of our bees' honey and some fruit from our trees, and came home with eggs!
And I made some persimmon-ginger preserves. Sooooo tasty, that after I made the first batch, I started a second.

That cake looks and sounds fantastic. Can we have the recipe? though our starter won't be near as vintage as yours. And everything else looks beautiful, too. _________________ I don't count calories. I count plates. Three a day.

That cake does look amazing! I love the idea of chocolate sourdough cake.
I'm also realizing that I don't think I've ever actually had a persimmon. I'm thinking I'll get and try one. Stupid question, but do you eat the whole thing or do you peel it? |

Friday
Breakfast -- latte, to nauseous to eat anything
Elevenses -- nothing
Lunch -- wandered around Trader Joes, and bought some rather strange food, based on the criteria "this doesn't make me want to puke." Bread, cheese, about six dried dates.
Dinner -- red lentil soup, home baked bread, a slice of chocolate cake.
I start S days on Friday night, with one bit of dessert. And I have very moderate weekends. _________________ http://howsrobb.blogspot.com/ |

I think it was neutral. Didn't make things better or worse.
I don't love nausea, but after I had the bad luck of contracting hepatitis a, a few years back, I can put up with a lot. I was sick as a dog, horribly nauseous for almost four months. The odd thing was that I gained weigh during that time because *any* physical activity made me violently ill.
A few days of thinking I'm going to puke? Not so bad, after all. _________________ http://howsrobb.blogspot.com/ |

Sunday
Breakfast -- latte, a poached egg, a slice of bread, a persimmon, a pineapple guava
Lunch -- veggie sushi and coffee
Snack -- a cookie
Dinner -- a green salad, leftover pasta with a mushroom sauce, green beans, chocolate cake
I potted up a bunch of cuttings that a friend had given me. Went for an easy five mile bike ride, and went to an estate sale where we found some antique lamps. _________________ http://howsrobb.blogspot.com/ |

Monday
Breakfast -- latte, two poached eggs, slice of bread
Elevenses -- nothing
Lunch -- leftovers from dinner, an orange from a coworker's tree
Dinner -- pasta and artichoke hearts, slice of bread with cheese, a banana
Hepatitis is, indeed, dreadful. I was lucky enough to get hep-a which doesn't do permanent liver damage. There's a vaccine for hep-a and hep-b, now. How I wish I'd had it.
Also... The transmission route for hepatitis? Disgusting. _________________ http://howsrobb.blogspot.com/ |

Tuesday -- I can't really remember, but it was fine.
Wednesday
Breakfast -- latte, bread butter and jam
Lunch -- cheese sandwich, clementine
Dinner -- two glasses of wine, polenta, spinach and mushroom sculpture, a tiny pastry with merangue, and teeny tiny scoops of ice cream, coffee
Tonight was opening night for the current show at our theater. I was invited to the pre show dinner. Also in attendance were Nancy Pelosi, and several former and current Bay Area mayors. And quite a few secret service agents. _________________ http://howsrobb.blogspot.com/ |

Saturday
Breakfast -- latte, a small piece of coffee cake, a mandarin orange
Lunch -- a cheese and veggie sandwich, an apple
Dinner -- vegetables and broiled tofu over coconut rice
This week has been fine, food wise. I've been fighting a cold.
I made another batch of persimmon ginger preserves, and took a handspinning class. _________________ http://howsrobb.blogspot.com/ |

I had a draggy headcold for a week, and have been eating reasonably well, but not perfectly. I'm realizing dinner needs to happen earlier, because I get hungry to the point of melting down. And that's unseemly in a grown woman.
I've been trying to walk at least half a hour at lunch. Doing okay with that. _________________ http://howsrobb.blogspot.com/ |

I've been letting things slide a bit, and I'm okay with that. I made my intern a cake for her birthday, and had a slice. I ate a cookie at lunch today. I've been eating a good deal of cheese. All fine, because I'm NOTICING what I'm doing.
I know I could use more actual exercise. I'm on my feet all day, but I'm not in fantastic cardio-vascular health.
I seem to have stopped eating breakfast in the early morning, but I'm still having "elevenses" Interesting.
Friday
Breakfast -- latte
Elevenses -- a small coffee a toasted bagel with some cheese
Lunch -- bread, avocado, cheese, an orange
Dinner -- home made mac-and-cheese, sauteed chard, a cookie
I did not do shots of whiskey with my co-workers after work, nor did I partake of their beer. I honestly don't know how they manage to drive home after work. This sort of thing goes on ALL THE TIME, and I mostly just ignore it. I'd really like to challenge people to a Sober October, or something, because I truly believe that a lot of the folks I work with and care about are alcoholics. But as you can imagine, my suggestions on this subject have fallen on deaf ears.

I know where you're coming from....had the same situation with my husband actually. You're right....suggestions are definately ignored unless they're ready. And you know what? The impossible happened. He actually decided to have a "sober month" this summer (with his parents actually, as they were hitting it hard as well). IT WORKED. After years and YEARS of drinking that much, it actually worked. He sees how much excess he was drinking now and doesn't want to return to those habits. Took only one month for him to change his ways.
It's been 6 months now and he's in the habit of having 1-2 drinks per day.....one alcoholic and one Busch NA, which I've been told by more than one person that you can't tell the difference. And when he goes out, he alternates beer with non-alcoholic beverages.
Sorry to go on and on about this on your thread. It just brought me back to how I was frustrated with the whole situation. Maybe you could sneak in some Busch NA and see if they notice the difference. Or maybe you could tell them you just don't think they could go 30 days without alcohol. You know......that reverse psychology stuff. _________________ SW (as of 3/25/13): 172 lbs.

I took a long break from posting. Frankly, all the religious talk on this forum was wearing me down. The way so many posters on this forum assumed that everyone else shared their faith was making me very tense.
I'm still eating reasonably well. Still growing some of my own food. Still keeping bees.
And I've added chickens to my life. We got baby chicks in the mail, and they're about half-way to laying age.

Nice to see you back Who Me, that chick is adorable!
I'm not religious at all either but whatever helps someone else is their business, to each their own and all that I never noticed anyone forcing their religion on others but then again I tend to skim over the religious parts of posts |

I loved seeing your chick this morning! Glad to see you posting again. I'm not religious either. I find it easier just to live by the golden rule and am teaching my kids to do the same. I'm turned off by prosletyzing here too, except when it comes from No S zealots _________________ "A nail is driven out by another nail. Habit is overcome by habit."

I've been doing a bit more cycling, because I'm gearing up for my annual fundraising ride. I ride to raise money for a local organization that provides recreational opportunities for people with disabilities.
I've been doing ten mike rides, which is not a big deal for "serious" cyclists. But I'm out of practice, so a lot of shorter rides are better than nothing. _________________ http://howsrobb.blogspot.com/ |
