I believe that No S is a practice in looking at the big picture and not micromanaging based on numbers at the scale. It's about changing our habits back to what they were thousands of years before the "obesity epidemic" began. It's about moving away from the an industry that makes us feel bad about ...

I'm still going strong and I still feel like this is a much more sane way to do it. The last three days have been successful and I'm heading into the weekend.

Best wishes!

Despite having a couple of failures last week, I stayed the same weight, so I'll count that as a victory for week 2 of my 3 week trial. Today is day one of the third week, and I'm pressing on taking care to focus on my evening snacking problem.

Best wishes to all!

Another success yesterday.

As I do this, I begin to notice things about my snacking habit. The longer I stay up in the evening, the more I feel the need to fill the time with food. Last night, I told myself to go to bed, otherwise I'd just want to snack more.

Happy Friday!

Absolutely well said! It's kind of sad, that in our culture "only 3 meals a day" is actually a struggle for me to comprehend. And now it's becoming something that I have to practice to get to. Except for when I'm asleep, I'm never more than 5-6 hours away from my next meal. In the grand scheme of th...

With false hunger, sometimes what works for me is to wait 20 minutes and see if I'm still hungry for it. For example, "I feel hungry for those crackers, but since it might be just a false signal, I'm going to wait 20 minutes to see if the hunger remains." Then I set a timer, do something else, and c...

I'll be interested to hear how that works for you. I was going to get one, but now I'm looking towards the NuWave oven.

I'm an infomercial junkie.

Minor fail yesterday. I found myself "grazing" before and after dinner. I lost focus because of my over-confidence about last week's success.

Tonight I have acupuncture treatment after work, so hopefully my energy will get back in alignment and I can focus harder tonight.

There's a package of mint oreos in the pantry calling my name, but I am going to resist. Oreos are my big diet-breaking weakness. I don't even like them that much, but anytime that I am restricting sweets, I *crave* them. It's amazing what power sugar has over us. It is much harder to quit sugar th...

"knitapeace"....I'm just impressed that you have a daily check in thread that's 24 pages long!! I couldn't agree more. Very impressive. I'm doing a basic, no-mod trial of NoS for three weeks while I transition from Weight Watchers. I started a week ago at 283.4 and despite a minor failure with snacking last night, I weighed in at 279.2. A loss of 4.2 pounds! I realize that I won't experience this type of weight loss each week, but i...

I don't "DO" No S, I practice No S.

I like to look at it this way. A 50% failure rate with No S, is still a 50% improvement on my lifestyle without No S.

Best wishes!

I guess I still feel locked into that mindset of calorie counting and having to "work off" a certain number of calories in order to stay within a normal limit. It's difficult to get away from that mindset for sure. What really gets me is that the diet industry uses the same basic calories-in/calori...

My first two S days went fine. I was able to relax and enjoy occasional seconds, snacks and sweets without feeling guilty about it. One of the things that I've noticed is that allowing the occasional S on the S days really emphasizes how much I really have been snacking, having seconds, and eating s...

Good morning. I had another "green" day yesterday which was great considering I was at home instead of in the office. There are many more temptations to snack at home for me and I was able to push through them. Big victory for day 3! This coming weekend will be my first set of S days. Best wishes.

I'm transitioning from WeightWatchers to the more "sane" N S Diet. I want to get back to the basic eating habits outlined in the plan. I started Tuesday and had success. Walking at work - hot weather....any tips on cooldown?

I would walk at work more (during lunch) if I had a better way of coping with the sweating and cooling down. Are there any tips for fellow office workers?

You are a competent adult, not a toddler. No one should be forbidding you to walk. It's good that he cares, but you can't let his paranoia about safety set unreasonable limits on your life -- it's not like you want to take up bungee-jumping! Walk where you'll be around other people, and/or during d...
