Re: Jen's checkin thread

Especially since having a daughter, I try to never talk in fatphobic ways about my body or anyone else's, but I failed at that this weekend. I was at a training event with all women, and I was talking about No S with a friend there who has been struggling with her eating. That's fine, but then she s...

170# today. I've had some 168 and 169 days in between but didn't come on here. Red day yesterday. High stress time of year for me. False alarm on the weight loss restarting. My weight bounced back up to 170 after that, then back to 169. Oh well. I forgot to weigh today or yesterday. I took a yellow day for Purim, for the hamentaschen (little triangular cookies that my MIL send to us).

I also had a red day yesterday.

I was definitely a victim of this American idea, that being hungry was the worst possible catastrophe. For me, the answer is yes. I do get the feeling Reinhard describes in the book, that because certain decisions are already made, I can put eating on auto-pilot more. And this has helped me be more productive at work and home, because not every time is for eating.

your food sounds good! Hope the workout went well! I am trying to work in more vegetarian meals. My rice and beans were tasty. Dried beans cooked in the crockpot are so much more yummy than canned beans (which are fine, but meh). I added sautéed onions and celery, sweet red peppper spice, a bit of...

I love your concept of doing kindnesses for yourself. I may have to steal that. Have you done any Youtube videos for workouts? I like Yoga with Adriene, and one thing I like about it is that her tone is 100% accepting, gentle, and kind in describing our bodies. I realized when my daughter was young ...

Happy Hanukkah 🕎!! I’m excited to see a fellow Jew in here! Curious why eggnog makes you guys feel disgusting? Like sick? By the way, I should've said, it's my boyfriend who is the Jew. We've been celebrating Hanukkah with him (and Passover, more importantly) since he moved in with us 7 years ...

Green yesterday. 169.5 today. Reclaiming my ability to say: * no thanks, * not now, * maybe later, * some other time, and * what I really want is sleep, not food! We had chicken, kale, and rice for dinner, with 1/2 grapefruit on my plate for my "dessert". I am cooking the beans in the crockpot today...

Red last night. Having party food like salty peanuts and chocolates out in bowls does a number on my will power when I am tired. Oh well, fresh day today. I did work out last night, and had the moo shi for dinner, but ate peanuts as soon as I got home, and had some chocolate after dinner.

I think that it’s not the fat in eggnog that makes me feel sick, it’s the sugar. I like it but wish it were half as sweet.

Yes, I am a runner, too, for more than 30 years, although unlike you, I frequently have had periods of not running. No S provides a baseline way to control eating so that it doesn't take over your life or cause weight gain, even if you cannot exercise.

Congratulations on your imminent retirement!

I know we will have ups and downs with our habits. It's easy to create new (bad) habits or to fall into the old grooves laid down. I hope that you can reconnect with what motivates you. Maybe that will be after you retire, or maybe it will be sooner.

Super Slow is a weight protocol developed by Ken Hutchins in the 1980's during a Nautilus funded study. Basically, you take approximately 50% of your max weight in an exercise and lift it 10 seconds up, 10 seconds down. You increase the weight when you can move it for a positive rep up to 120 to 16...
