Hi and welcome! I haven't been in the discussion group for awhile. I'm planning to post a testimonial at some point after my next doctor's appointment (to see how my bloodwork is), but did want to share a few things I learned the past years in case any are of interest. Thanks for the support Auto! Yogurt and berries sounds a lot better than my big bowl of mixed fruit and yogurt. I do berries in the summer, but the ones out of season just don’t seem all that appealing to me. Bought a bag of frozen berries today, maybe I’ll try those.

I took a time management class at work recently. One of the things they had us do is to write down the most important things to us, and then estimate how we spend time in our days. Re: Sharon's daily check-in

Margot, I'm in this for less than 10 months, so you're better off taking the word of someone like Auto about long-term compliance. So far for me, compliance with no snacking and no sweets during the week has gotten easier. I'm still feeling my way with the one plate. If I look back honestly, Vanilla...

So easy for the scale to jump after a couple of days of indulgence, and so slow for it to come down again! Good luck on yours as well! Scale for me was down a pound from yesterday's horror but still up 2 from last week and +4 from my November, pre-holiday NoS low. I am curious to see if I will get b...

I did another "I'm not sure if I want Monday to be an S day or not" because of the Presidents' Day holiday yesterday. Ha. Whenever I say that to myself, it always ends up an S day. Why not just admit it at the outset? Monday was an OK day. Had a cocktail with dinner instead of a glass of wine - very...

My doctor (the one who recommended NoS to me) is pretty firm about wanting me to exercise 6 days a week for 30 to 45 minutes. There are just so many good things that happen to your body when you're moving regularly (and so many bad things that happen when you don't). I realize it's tough if you're w...

Oh, Octavia, caring for an elderly parent is so stressful. My heart goes out to you as well. It’s very difficult not to feel guilty, because no matter what you do, there is always more to be done. I’m glad you are feeling better today. Getting enough sleep is so important! Hard for a day to go well ...

"How can I best enjoy this meal?" I am loving asking this question at mealtime. It's really helped me enjoy my meals more. Answering that question often means having a single portion, because I've seen since starting NoS that I enjoy my food more when it's not unlimited. It means being mindful, payi...

Everyone has to do what they think is right for them, but I hope to bring up points to consider. I know you didn't ask for my opinion, so sorry for butting in on this, but I'm really not a fan of all-water fasting for more than a day. One of the best things I read about exercise is to think of it just like your job. You probably don't decide every day whether or not you're going to work (or working at home). When it's a work day, most people work unless there's a super good reason not to. Exercise should be the same. It's an even...

As I experiment to see what's going to work for me long-term, one-plate/no-seconds not-exactly-wise, I've decided to approach meal times in a new frame of mind: "How can I best enjoy this mealtime experience?" Thanks for the weigh-day advice. I'll see how it goes, but Tues-Thurs seems like it might work. It's fine if it's 1 or 2 days more or less. You're right that not weighing for awhile can have bad results, though, at least for me. I need to find a good balance between accountability and obsession :)

It's a tough one. Restrictions and forbiddens can feel like a "diet," but going totally wild every day - or even 2 days out of 7 - probably isn't a great long-term strategy for our health, let alone weight loss. The best advice I can offer is to pay attention to how you feel while you are eating, an...

Interesting thoughts on nutrition. I think many of us will know what's best for us to eat if we honestly pay careful attention to how we feel after we eat different foods. I think if you make healthy eating choices - less refined carbs specifically - you may lower your overall body fat. So I've read. (Which would help explain why my body fat composition is very high even though I exercise almost daily and my BMI has never been above normal.)
