Yeh, fair enough. Everyone can eat what they want. No point having a reasonable discussion.

And just my two cents on what "balanced" means... it seems that time has found that eating a wide variety of foods (especially fruits and veggies) is pretty good for you. I don't think there are any foods that are intrinsically bad (except ones that contain poison such as arsenic sandwiches with as...

Silverfish its up to you to do whatever you feel is best for you.

You don't cut out one food group completely only bits of it - the crappy bits.

But its only my opinion.

Re: Two months in

I've been trying out No-S for almost two months now, and it's the only "diet" I've stuck with this long. I weighed myself on the weekend and had an emotional rollercoaster-ride, as one set of scales said I'd gone from 110g to 105kg and the other that I'd gone from 111 to 109. I'm leaning towards th...

I don't think people know what to eat to be healthy and lean. What is a balanced diet anyway - I don't think its the food pyramid. Its definitely not low fat, see this site: http://www.westonaprice.org/knowyourfats/index.html A Comment that interested me from another site: "The Food Pyramid was in f...

Hi Ariel, Glad the medication is helping you. Regarding trying the diet myself, I have been doing something similar which is low-carb. It is pretty easy for me to keep with it, I only fall down when I am stressing out about something or feeling emotional and then I turn to food for comfort. I will b...

Sorry you have to live with such a painful condition. I had a look at the SCD and it does eliminate a lot of food. Perhaps if you had given it longer than 12 days it may have helped because your condition probably needs atleast 3 months to see some results. If you were really hungry doing it I think...

Hey Deb, so what does it mean if you aren't that hungry in the morning? Could it be that a person isn't doing something right in the evening? Just have a piece of fruit and a few tablespoons of plain yoghurt and maybe a handful of walnuts or LSA (ground linseed, sesame and almonds).

Its better to have something to get your metabolism firing in the morning.

The non-dieter's were counselled to love their body size, told to eat whatever they wanted. Because of this they lost their obsession with food and their weight stayed the same. The dieter's lost weight but then put it all back and then some. 1. The non-dieters experienced some health benefits but t...

I also think its the sugar - you need to cut it out. I use to have my coffee with 3 spoonfuls of sugar and I slowly cut it out to zero.
Also, you may be having just enough food to maintain and need to reduce portions and/or start exercising to use more energy than you consume.

goops - Goodness gracious. How does one even drink 18 cans of diet coke per day. I would be so gassy!! Planner lady - I would only drink the soda on S days and only 1 or 2 cans per day. Completely remove it from your diet during the No S days and drink plenty of water. Your body will thank you for it.

Shovelglove stirring

I had an idea for another shovelglove move (unless its already one). What if you do stirring movements. Hold the sledgehammer in front of you with two hands and pretend you a stirring something. Make big circles going right and then change and go left. Uses your biceps, triceps, shoulders, back, abs.

All I meant was that while I'm certain there are biochemical ways of causing your body to lose weight, the reason most people are bigger now then they were 50, 100, 200 years ago is not because the chemical make-up of the food we eat is different. It's that the amount of food is different and the p...

Thanks Reinhard for your reply. The NoS is a good system because 80% of the time people are eating good food and 20% of the time (or less) they get to have a sweet etc so they don't feel like they are on a diet. This is a good thing limiting junk food as it shouldn't be an everyday food. Generations...

Remember though, there are 2 aspects of "toning", as I understand it: 1) firming and shaping the muscle, and 2) removing fat from on top of the muscle so it becomes visible. The more fat resides in one's upper arms, the harder it will be to see muscle changes underneath (especially when the muscles...
