Re: TeacherJ's Journal

Hi ladybird! Yes, I think keeping a journal is helpful especially since I don't have anyone in my life to walk this journey with. DH is supportive, but doesn't quite "get it" since he is a naturally slim man. I don't like sharing at work either because people tend to add their opinions or assume thi...

Re: TeacherJ's Journal

The last time I posted in my journal was 1 year ago. I had figured out a plan, but somehow, I got sidetracked. I don't even remember why. One day I just realized I wasn't following the plan anymore. I feel like a failure for sure. Another year gone by and I still have the same weight problem plus I ...

Re: TeacherJ's Journal

Checking in I am still on the path. I have worked my way down to three meals. I found that if I just plan to eat a small meal when I get home that I don't want the dinner that I prepare for the family. I kept thinking I needed to eat a "proper" meal for dinner, but I don't. So, a typical day may loo...

Re: TeacherJ's Journal

I have had a pretty good week, but I am terrible about logging in here. 5k steps does take intention. It is much harder on weekends. I am thinking of upping my target on weekdays and lowering my target on weekends. I can get at least 4k at work and then hit my 5k mark by moving a little more ...

I really prefer forums. I have tried to join some Facebook groups, but it is hard to have a discussion with that format.

Re: TeacherJ's Journal

Hello again! Life has been crazy, but things are starting to calm down. I really want to get back to checking in here daily. Right now, I am eating 4 times per day. I accepted the fact that I need that small snack between lunch and dinner. I try to make it a protein based snack so I don't set off cr...

Re: TeacherJ's Journal

Well, I made it through the first two weeks of school. It was major stressful. All I could do was come home and crash on the couch most days. My goal is to start checking in daily. I think it helps with accountability. I am sticking to the NO SNACKING habit. I add some sugar free chocolate or a prot...

Re: TeacherJ's Journal

Teaching has certainly changed. I love working with the students, but COVID really damaged things for me. It will pass in time. I just have to figure out how to not let the stress overwhelm me. I think controlling my eating is a good way to do that.

Re: TeacherJ's Journal

Thanks ladybird and soprano! I think some of it is anxiety about the upcoming school year. I will be at a new school this year. I will also be teaching a new grade level. Then there are all the COVID issues to worry about. I am having a hard time because there are so many unknowns, and I don't feel ...

We got hit by a stomach bug at my home. All I could get down were a few crackers. Everyone is better now. I should be good to go with my eating plan.

So last week was a definite S Week...haha.

I am NOT looking forward to menopause. I have heard so many horrors. My doctor told me not to worry. She said just because one woman has a certain symptom doesn't mean every woman will have it. I heard her, but I am still terrified.

Hi Linda, I love zucchini bread. I haven't had it in ages, but my mom used to make it. I like reading about French culture. I think it would be neat to go to a French restaurant. I don't know how tall you are, but our stats seem similar. I am probably around 200ish pounds. I would love to get to 130...

Thank for the great insights ladies.

I would not be surprised if I were to be diagnosed with insulin resistances. Diabetes and PCOS runs in my family. I think monitoring my carb intake is the most important decision I have made for my health.

TeacherJ's Journal

I started following a low carb diet in June. This allowed me to get a handle on my cravings. Sweets and starchy junk foods are my biggest problem. Even though I felt great eating low carb, I wasn't losing weight. After reflecting and reading I realized I was eating too many calories. I had exchanged...

A summer of learning

Hello I am a teacher who has found some balance with eating this summer. Normally, I work in the summer, but this year I decided to take time for me. I was really stressed this past school year due to the COVID issues. I have been overweight for about 15 years, and this year I decided to do somethin...
