Re: Trying it for 2023

Thanks. My friend and I are both doing the diet and having modestly positive results so far. Life has gotten in the way a couple weeks, but we're trending downward, having both lost 8 pounds.

Trying it for 2023

Wow, I haven't been to this site in years, but I still remember the No S Diet. My friend and I want to lose 15 pounds this year, so I'm beginning a "no sweets, spirits (incl. beer), seconds, or snacks (except fruit) except on days starting with S" plan. All of these Ss are things I regularly engage ...

Demonstration video

Hey all, It's been awhile since I've posted here, but I've continued working out with my sledgehammers. So many of my friends ask me about this routine ("you're doing what? ") that yesterday I created a demonstration video. I gave credit to shovelglove.com. I hope you enjoy it: Click here to watch.

"Underground" training

An article ran in my Sunday paper about "underground exercise," and it showed a woman beating a tire with a sledgehammer. (I can't find the link for it.) I thought you'd be interested. It links to http://undergroundstrengthcoach.com/

So did your neighbor say anything about the gasps and groans coming from behind the bathroom door? ;)

More new movements

Cool! I'm going to have to try those out. Here are some ones I came up with to keep things interesting. I think the titles are self-explanatory, but let me know if they aren't: 1. Canoe paddling 2. Gong ringing (front and side) 3. Knighting someone (Similar to your flag waving description) 4. Pushin...

I haven't seen any dramatic changes in my physique after a month of doing it. Just some nips and tucks, as my wife puts it, some subtle toning. It's definitely helped my endurance and energy level, though. Today, I hauled over 40 bags of mulch up the hill in my back yard, and other than some mild lo...

I also tried another new one this morning that I'm thinking about adding for next week: Ring the Gong. I think the name says it all.

Canoeing exercise

Hi all, One of the descriptions of scenario-based exercise routines mentioned "canoeing," which struck me as a sensible and useful addition to the shovelglove exercises. Since I haven't seen any other discussion about it (of course, maybe I'm blind), I thought I'd demonstrate what I've been doing. I...

On the 1st week of shugging, my shovelglove gave to me . . .

I just finished my first week, too, accomplishing the full 14 minutes each day by setting the alarm clock earlier. Felt like crap by Thursday. But most of the time I feel mantastic. :) Shoveling is my least favorite of the exercises, probably because it's the hardest. In the second set of 50, I had ...
