I started feeling more grown up or older when police officers started to look like kids and I would see a girl in her early 20's and think: "I wonder what her mom looks like."

Good answer Noel. I'm surprised how much this little "myth" keeps popping up. Especially when you consider how many women in sports do some kind of resistance training and have attractive feminine figures to show for it. I guess the steroid look gets alot more obvious play in the media. BTW a double...

I didn't mean to sound judgemental. I just kept thinking about people who have been over exposed to dieting culture and infomercial culture. They could take your calculations and run with it and the end result for some people would be a club you have to join and food and plates you would have to pay...

stevecooper I really admire and appreciate what you did, but those calculations feel, to me, like an attempt to add some "numerology" to a diet that has purposely taken the numerology out. I could see somebody deciding that the area of the plate should be subdivided according to macronutrients and g...

Sledgehammer and Tire!!

Here is a video Ross Enamait has posted on his website that has a good setup for anyone that wants to try hitting a tire with their sledgehammer. There is something really satisfying about actually hitting something with a sledge. http://www.rosstraining.com/articles/sledge2.html BTW, this guy is th...

Hey Variance, 40 -50 miles per week is ALOT. If you look at the NO S homepage it doesn't say anything about 3 meals per day. FWIW eating at 4 PM may actually help your runs if you are running in the afternoon. I don't think most of the people who undertake No S are getting the amount of exercise tha...

I tried the exercises from www.goanimal.com with my 10 lb sledge and my 10 lb medicine ball. Both are fun but the sledge has the potential to be alot harder. There are some cool full body moves that you can incorporate with squats by tracing the shapes--e.g. there is one called "Super V" that I do b...

I think you are walking a slippery slope here. While it does make sense to have a reward for taking care of one's health, I just can't imagine that being done in America without widespread fraud taking place and beauracratic inefficiencies bogging the whole thing down. Just look at the aftermath of ...

How do you think it would work if you interspersed it with SG on an every other day schedule?

I have done yoga myself over the years. Does the Sonnon vid add any new wrinkles if I already know the basic asanas?

FREE DVD 14 minute workout!

Scott Sonnon is giving away his FlowFit DVD. I haven't tried the workout yet-it looks like some yoga asanas-linked together in a flowing motion. It can be done in 14 minutes so I thought some folks here may be interesed. You do have to pay $6.95 for shipping. Oh yeah sorry international shuggers fre...

Betty, I have found that for me personally there are two kinds of S-days- the kind where I snack and eat everything in sight or the kind where I keep everything reined in pretty tightly but have a treat with the kids or a small dessert. Both experiences are valuable: for the former I end up feeling ...

It seems to me that you possess multiple skills that would carry over to other areas. Being a teacher you are a practiced public speaker who can command the attention of a group of people. You also have experience dealing with and being part of a bureaucracy. Putting together lesson plans also seems...

Similar philosophy

I don't know if anyone here has read the book "Joe X" or heard of it, but the philosophy in it is pretty much in line with the Everyday Systems philosophy. It's main point being that sticking with consistent exercise is more of a mental challenge than a physical one. http://www.amazon.com/Joe-Rethin...

16 lbs for 16 Dollars!

I don't know if anyone else noticed this but every now and then the sledgehammer store ad that runs across the top of the screen on the BB page has been having sales. I got a 16 lb sledgehammer for $16.50 w/free shipping the other day. I'm not ready to upgrade yet but I figured I may as well grab it...

Testimonials from long time Shuggers?

I've been lurking here for awhile and shugging on and off for a few months and I would like to hear from folks that have done Shovelglove for more than a few months. It seems there are alot of posts of- "This is my second day and I'm so psyched!" --I think it's great to be excited but I would like t...
