SavvyV, I agree with all you've said. I think until we learn to satsify our cravings with God instead of food, we are just making the food behave. I don't know if you are familiar with it, but I have a book recommendation for you - Made To Crave, written by Lysa Terkeurst. I find that NoS works well...

You do it by following the rules you wrote above. Use your self-discipline muscle - it will get stronger the more you use it. This bible verse may help: Hebrews 12:11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those ...

It also makes me sad - you have articulated a lot of my own feelings.

My current favorite is a spin on Hoppin' John (a southern favorite). I don't usually follow a recipe to make soup, so here's my best approximation: 1 tb oil onion, chopped celery, chopped green and/or red bell pepper, chopped garlic, minced Cajun seasoning thyme hot sauce leftover pulled pork or chi...

In the US, things that are plain are sometimes referred to as "vanilla". As in, "Her outfit is plain vanilla".

Vanilla NoS is NoS done without any modifications or changes.

I find the Hutterites so fascinating! Why does your job take you there? Are you in education? I'm curious about your question of the appropriateness of asking for recipes. Did you like the stuffing dish? Do you think they would be hesitant to share recipes? Sorry for being so nosy - I'm just really ...

In some cases, Detroit for example, it's not just better grocery stores, it's grocery stores. I think I heard that some chain was going into Detroit, but at least until recently there were no full-service grocery stores in the city of Detroit. They were all in the suburbs. Wosnes, I heard that, too...

To the detriment of our health, we are living in a food carnival.
This says it all, to me. Thank goodness NoS limits the eating episodes per day. We have too much - too many choices, too much availability, etc. No wonder most of us are overweight or obese!

She didn't state it as fact -- it was an opinion. I tend to agree with it -- especially the part that results will be slow. In addition, I think 1) having moderate habits, like No-S, may prevent some of these things from occurring, and 2) what we eat is part of the issue, too. That's my opinion. I ...
