Overheating is scary. I was training for a race on a bike trail that I had never been on before. I ran about 7 miles out, ran out of water, realized that it was much hotter than I thought and there was no shade. My legs cramped something terrible. I could barely walk the last couple of miles let alo...

I did WW for a summer and always felt hungry. I lost weight, but was obsessed with point counting. I didn't feel free to just live and enjoy. The adage Keep it simple stupid comes to mind when it comes to dieting. If you practice No-S and just look for small changes that you make stick such as tryin...

I didn't actually stop. I just lost some good habits along the way. I was exercising a lot and not taking in enough calories during my meal times. I started losing my habit sometime around the holidays. I just need to tighten up the my eating after dinner. I need to mainly get my after dinner eating...

Needing a fresh start

Ok. I was pretty successful at the NO-S last year. I actually probably slimmed down a little too much. I work out pretty hard and walk to and from work daily. I've noticed that I have put a few of those pounds back on. At this point I want to do the NO-S diet again for the simplicity and the enjoyme...

country ranger

Yes I was a country ranger. I grew up in a small town in PA. Yes. No one walks or runs or bikes. I was fortunate however to grow up on several hundred acres of forest and farm land. The woods provided me with plenty of walking space. I wouldn't want to go back though. I like being able to walk to th...

Try walking early morning or early evening if you can manage. The heat index is generally much lower at this time. I would sometimes run at 5:30 or 6 am to beat the heat in August. I would trade some days of being an Urban Ranger to being a country Ranger. Good Luck.

Our family makes our own pizzas. We make a whole wheat dough for the crust. I think that having a whole grain crust makes it more filling. I also eat a large salad before eating the pizza. I will usually try to limit myself to 2 pieces, but sometimes its just too good.

Way to go! Shoveling snow is a great workout. I see so many people cheating themselves out of a workout with the snowblower. They are probably shoveling their drives, so that they can drive to the gym and workout with a machine.

For me there are two triggers after dinner 1. TV - I am conditioned like a lab rat to want snacks when I am watching the tube 2. Had a similar experience with fast food recently on a road trip. I usually pack food because I hate having to rely on fast food. It wrecked my digestive system for the entire next day. I thought that I would enjoy it more than I did.

I've done the dessert thing as well. Too many people have been sharing their desserts and I've felt too self righteous watching my kids indulge.I also know that there would be no saving me any for my S-days. So, I am working on No-S one day at a time. :)

Reinhard, Just wondering what sort of clothing do you wear for rainy or wintery Urban Rangering? I have a 1.5 mi. commute to work and I walk it most days. Hi. I walk to work daily (1.2 miles each way). It is great to be in touch with the seasons here in Ohio.
