I've bed reading parts of a book titled in the subject. The author attempts to live out 13 of Ben's Virtues. The first chapter is on temperance and the author sets out to restrict his diet to not eat between meals or eat after supper. No snacking was allowed. He reasoned that this was the only achie...

I've been reading through the book written by Greg Critser. For me there are two triggers after dinner 1. TV - I am conditioned like a lab rat to want snacks when I am watching the tube 2. Being tired- the more tired that I am the less I care about the "rules" I found that doing things other than TV curbed my appetite (reading, other leisure activities) also...

Winter and inclement Weather Rangering
Reinhard, Just wondering what sort of clothing do you wear for rainy or wintery Urban Rangering? I have a 1.5 mi. commute to work and I walk it most days. Rainy days tend to be the most annoying because I usually wear a rain suit, or I sometimes need to remember to pack it if it looks like it may ra...

I have never really used the habit calendar. I tried using the Habitcal online, but I think I need a "low-tech" calendar just hanging on the fridge. I think that I will also start with one habit at a time. I will just cut out the sweets. Easier said than done at this time of year. My wife just retur...

Help I've fallen...
Hi Guys. I have't posted here in a while, but I still read weekly. I had some really good habits in the spring and summer. When I started back to work in the Fall (I'm a teacher.) Stress seemed to knock those good habits right out of me. How do I get back to the good habits? I can't seem to get star...

Kick starting
I have become busier and for some reason I have slipped back into some of my old eating patterns. Now I don't just go crazy, but a little here and a little there and I feel the walls are beginning to crumble. Any tips on getting back into NO S? I probably need to use the habit cal of something like ...

Animal, Vegetable, Miracle
Anyone else read Barbara Kingsolver's book titled in the subject? Interesting read, very thoughtful look at our eating habits. I was reading a chapter today about the lack of a truly cultural american diet. When most foreigners are asked what they think Americans eat, their response is ...McD's. I t...

I'm still doing this
Hi. I walk to work daily (1.2 miles each way). It is great to be in touch with the seasons here in Ohio. Yes, it does suck at times when the weather is really bad, but I find that mostly the weather is agreeable. I even enjoy walking in a light rain. Some days I do bike just to save a little time. I...

spreading the good news
I had a conversation with someone who asked how I had lost weight and I told them about NO S. This person laughed and thought it made sense. Then about a week ago I was talking with another person who knew the first person and he said "I'm trying the NO S diet." I believe that the simplicity and com...

beginning again
Hi. I was doing no s for a couple of months, but slipped out of habits and routines and now it is time to begin again, hopefully this time with my wife on board. I did lose weight and felt better about myself. I felt like I was in control. Now, I have slipped back into old eating patterns, mostly ea...

Hello. My first post.
Hi. I have been lurking for quite some time and have practiced NO S for several months. I have not had a successful run of days yet though. I seem to lose focus and so I think Habitcal will help. I have managed to lose an amount of weight that I am comfortable with, but now I need to keep it off. Th...
