The video is a generous contribution that will help those first exploring Shovelglove get started. That said, trainees should consider it a launching pad for adding their own creativity to the movements. As an example, (even though SG is ideal for small training areas) doing movements (when space al...

In case anyone else has this problem, you may wish to try what I came across. Soak the head of the sledgehammer in a bucket of water. (I did it overnight.) The handle tightened right up. (I came across a web site where someone said that when the water dries the handle loosens again. I don't know if ...

Fixing an SG

Hello Shuggers: I purchased a 12lb sledgehammer several years ago. (Hickory handle.) I've only used it for shugging and, perhaps, IIRC, hitting a tire a few times. Today I noticed that there is a very slight amount of "play" between the head and the handle. When I pull on the head with my hands, it ...

Please consider wrapping it any way that gets the job done, i.e. covering the "business end" of the hammer to prevent/reduce severity of potential injury/property damage. (Shugging done correctly is totally safe to inanimate objects and all living creatures :D ) Be creative. Make it your own. "This ...

Nice! ... shows you how flexible and useful a structure focusing on the time rather than the kind of exercise can be./quote] Interesting about the time. As some of you may know, but for those who don't, a major thrust of one school of KB training, is the idea of building time without putting the KB...

Good for you on the fun family time ! I'm guessing that part of the "DOMS" (delayed onset muscle soreness, I believe,) is the ballistic nature of the movements involved in a snowball fight, as opposed to slow, deliberate movements that might characterize some SG routines. IMHO, simulating the snowba...

Peasant, Warrior...whatever, "labels" will evoke different emotions in everyone. One of the many beauties of SG, that I never considered until this thread, is that Reinhard invented, in addition to a concept and system, a name. When someone hears "shovelglove" they can not "bring" to the experience ...

Please check this out: http://www.workarounds.com/2006/07/tennis-ball-walker-feet.html Now, think of the un-weighted end of the ShovelGlove as having the tennis ball on it instead of the walker leg. Make sense ? It's not that big a deal to have the ball on or not, but I like it. All the best, Eddie

Hi Deb, I'm with you, safety first, absolutely ! I slit the ball with a razor blade and wedge the handle in. It stays put. Whenever I am gripping the ball, ( which simply adds a "grip variety" in terms of shape and texture, ) my other hand is on the handle I feel it is completely safe, provided of c...

How do you know when you are "too into" SG ? : - )

I cut open a tennis ball, the way folks do to place over the "foot" of a walker, and placed it over the handle end of my SG. For a slight "grip-variety" on certain movements.

Enjoy !

Some thoughts about weights: I am fortunate to have a 4, 6, 8, 12, & 16 lb Shovelglove. ( The 4 & 6 were purchased in a burst of zeal when I realized how much I enjoy shugging-that's the verb we use, yes? - and wanted my young sons and wife to develop the habit as well.) When I searched posts about ...
