SOMETIMES Crusaders, now is the time to RISE UP! To all those who believe in the Alwaysian mantras - you are all blasphemers and heretics! There is only one true and living NoS, and it states "except (sometimes) on days that start with 'S'. Sometimesians, we must unite to fight the infidels! Always...

For me, mid-afternoon snacking had become a habit. I used to brew a pot of tea around 2 p.m. and then have something sweet with it. In days past I would have cookies, etc., usually more than planned - hey, it's a big pot of tea! When I was trying to "diet" I would try to be satisfied with a piece of...

That's interesting. I didn't realize there had been a *sometimes* in there. I like that, though. I re-committed this past Friday - right before the weekend S days. And on Sunday, for whatever reason, I didn't feel like having any sweets, snacks or seconds. I almost felt guilty for skipping them! I t...

I'm a a big fan of John McCann's Steel Cut Irish Oatmeal. I make a big batch (1 cup dried oats with 4 cups of boiling water). It takes 1/2 hour to cook, but it makes enough for 4 days. (1 cooked cup/serving). I just microwave it on subsequent days. It's delicious and I don't need to add milk or crea...

Wonderful thread with lots of thoughtful responses and suggestions. I don't have a whole lot to add as I'm just getting back to this again after a one week or so lapse. I do agree that N days at home can be difficult. The past couple of weeks have been hard. I'm not real sure why. I guess with Easter and cooking for guests and chocolate bunnies I just overdid everything. I feel like this diet is the best, most sensible way to eat. But. I really would like to lose the weight fast and then keep it off by eat...

Today's going well so far! I just ran 2.5 miles in 25 minutes. Woohoo!!

I've been on track for a successful no s eating day as well. (as of 3:30 p.m.)

Glad that yesterday's dismal results were limited to yesterday and not the beginning of a major backslide.

Thanks for the encouragement, jumpinjan! Yesterday, 3/18, was NOT a good day. :( I had too many errands to do to prepare for Easter and no energy or motivation. I ate a big bowl of icecream - a snack and a sweet - and didn't exercise at all. But. Yesterday is over. Today I can start fresh an...

3/17 - Monday; back to the N days. Sigh. Nice to know that next weekend, when I have Barb's bridal shower on Sat and Easter on Sun. will be S days! Followed rules today - no real problem w/that. Also did W7D3 of the C25K outside, for the first time. I actually felt like a real runner! 8)

Welcome! I must say, I enjoyed your post and the history of "how you got to where you are". Your story really emphasized a lot of the no s philosophy. I'm new here as well - just finished one week. Visualization technique that helps (me)

I want to share something that I read on some other board somewhere. It's not my original idea, but I've been borrowing it because I find this visualization tip very helpful and inspiring. Losing weight and getting healthy are like being on a bridge. Staying true to the No S rules means I'm crossing...

I don't have a lot of suggestions - I just started, too. I find that if I stay busy, I'm less inclinced to munch. And sometimes having a cup of hot tea or chewing gum helps. Good luck!

I'll be curious to read what more experienced no S'ers recommend.

Brand New Here -- just came across the book

Hi all! I was browsing through Barnes and Noble yesterday and this book caught my eye. Since I seem to "collect" diet books, I bought this one. After reading it -- I'm hoping it'll be my last! THANK YOU so much for writing such a common sense book! I need to lose about 20 pounds or so. I've been wor...
