Ha!, I love this thread and it's title because that was the decision I took two nights ago. I gave myself plenty of room to be an idiot and I ate whatever I wanted during most of december and I enjoyed myself inmensely. I had to tweak; my husband is NOT observing any dietary rule on the basis that the Holiday Season come only once a year, therefore, the new rules are: I can have whatever as long as it's part of one of my three (or two) plates and as soon as I'm full, I stop. Yeah, as Wosnes says, regular couscous is about the same as pasta when it comes to calories, given that couscous has the same composition of pasta: semolina and water.
But even so, if it's too many calories for your tastes, then, don't have the salad every day and voila!, problem solved. :)
