Re: If you aren't losing: sobering fact about how much weight loss maintainers eat

The less active you are, the less you need to sustain your body. The older you are the less you eat, the shorter you are, etc. There are many studies conducted that do say a person who dieted down to one weight vs a person that doesn't diet is that weight both need to consume different amounts. The...

It is a common assumption that there are very few morbidly obese people older than 65, but you might be surprised to learn how many "healthy" morbidly obese older people there are here in the world. The anti-fat bias in our society often causes people to believe and state things that just aren't tru...

There are lots of "health-at-every-size" people, and "size-acceptance" coaches that can be found online who are working to help people with that issue. Re: Does the obesssion with food go away with Nos?

For Me, personally, the answer is No. My own belief is that it is necessary to lose the weight obsession before the food obsession goes. According to current research, if we can actually stop caring about our own size, and whether we are fat or thin, thoughts of food and it's importance in our life ...

Re: 80 year old lady no loss

Yes. Due to increasing age, and decreasing activity often due to aging, our metabolism becomes a bit lower every year, which means that in order to even stay the same weight, we need to take in a bit less food every year. For most weight-challenged older people, it is a chore to keep from gaining we...

I've been here many years now and seen so many new people all excited about these same things only to have them basically disappear as the months have gone on. I think one of the hardest issues to overcome with any eating change is that it's going to get easy soon and stay easy. The odds of this ar...

Would you say you frequently eat three times a day or does that vary? I take it you rarely make much of a change in whatever guidelines you're using just because it's an S day. What situations merit extra food or normally limited food types for you? Just curious. No hurry for an answer. I know you ...

I agree that those who are seriously obese need something more limiting than No S. Maybe Reinhard should have stated something like that somewhere. Out of curiosity, what percentage would you say of those with above-normal BMI"s are seriously obese? I'm pretty sure the morbidly obese comprise under...

BrightAngel, I realize that I'm not sure what point you were trying to make. Is it that it seems the truly obese do not seem to be able to have the freedom of S days evolve naturally into moderation? That when told that they should just let go on those days until the overeating decreases without mu...

Re: I have a problem with commitment. I need help!

How do I do that? How do I keep the faith? I need to stick to No S and to trust that it works. Anyone have any tips for doing that --how I can crowd out all the "diet" voices in my head telling me there's a better way? We all have to find our own way, and many people are content with "Vanilla" No S...

So true.
To build and maintain eating habits that will lead to weight-loss results,
we need to be Consistently Aware of all of our food behaviors.

I've had to keep adjusting my intake downward and my hunger levels have dropped. There is a lot of variation. I think the moral of the story is to try to be sensitive to and honest about your real hunger and satiety levels rather than the scale. The less hungry you are, the less dense food you eat....

how does this plan work for everyone? If everyone has 3 plates a day, and plates are roughly the same size, how can a short small woman and a big tall man eat the same and both lose weight? Clearly they are different heights and they won't need the same amount of calories, but theoretically followi...
