Fish cakes

I think a lot of us are trying to find a way between haute cuisine and what I call dump and heat food. I think Jamie Oliver does a pretty good job of finding the middle ground, although I have to wonder what he was thinking with this week's recipe: salmon cakes. That middle ground used to be the no...

What is a good pedometer goal?

I had publicly declared that I would do 20K per day. Erm...that won't be happening - at least not during the fall/winter. 10K seems a little on the low side. Has anyone found a good goal that has helped them with no s?
Thanks!

Goal for the rest of 2010

My plan is to do No S, and 20,000 steps per day until the new year. I have also added in Callanetics (just started this yesterday). Today is Day 9 of my challenge to myself. So there you have it - my goal...in black and white for the world to see! BTW does anyone find it easier to avoid S day...

Dr. Weil is somewhat portly isn't he?

I'm in the Mediterranean as I write (Madrid, Viva España! -- and Alemagna, too), but with due respect to the somewhat portly Dr. Weil, I am reinforced in my view that what matters in terms of weight control is not stuff, but structure: EAT MEALS, like people do in España, and everywhere else wher...

 I think this is great advice. I actually love to cook - I just had given myself permission to eat out a little more often since NoS was going so well.

How to improve quality of 3 meals?

I am feeling pretty comfortable with the 3 meals etc but I find that the quality of the meals could use a great deal of improvement. Today I had Carl's Jr. for lunch  I need some guide lines for improving the quality without feeling like I am too deprived. Has anyone had success with incorpora...

One week in...

Well I have tried several tries at No S and have never really made it far - maybe a day or two was all. I started back last Monday and have successfully managed one week. I also do a great deal of walking this time around. I have a bunch of dogs who really benefit from long daily - sometimes twice d...

This idea is helpful.

I guess this is just a low-tech way of doing the HabitCal. I have started doing this (day 4 completed - yeah me!) and find it to be ridiculously satisfying to draw a big X through each day.
Thanks for posting this Blondie!

I eat veggies...

I realize this is not within nos guidelines but I find that eating raw vegetables between meals allow me to stick to the program. I also like V8 juice if they have that sort of thing in Scotland. I am restarting nos this week. I had wanted to for a long time but felt anxious about in between meal hu...

Mediterranean Food Pyramid Story....

I wanted to mention a little story about the post regarding the food (and drink)of the Mediterranean. While I was in college I spent 2 summers in Italy digging at an Etruscan site. The fellow who cleared the brush for us (so we could get in with our picks and shovels) would fuss at us for drinking s...

Hungry between lunch and dinner...?

I had tried having V8 juice between meals and sometimes that works but I wondered what others do? Just ignore it? Does in between hunger usually dissapate after a little while on the program? I also find that I get pretty sleepy between lunch and dinner which is tricky if I need to drive!

No S solves economic crisis.

I have tried No S in the past and was not able to stick to it. I could not make it work for even a day. I wanted to mention a few things that have helped this go-round inho. I do my own Habitcal on my calandar (I am too dense to figure out the one on NoS site). I give myself a green dot for complyin...

At about 5 PM tonight, I realized I hadn't eaten lunch. I had totally forgotten! When I was practicing Intuitive Eating, I was always belly gazing. Am I hungry? Am I not? What level of hunger am I experiencing? It's so nice to focus on LIFE! Kathleen Last month I read a book called I Can Make You T...

Salt

Tomato juice is usually a pretty good choice but you have to check the labels ... some brands have a lot of salt/sodium included so they may be a WOLF in SHEEP'S CLOTHING ... ;-) I don't know about V8's salt/sodium content at the moment though. The very best thing is usually to have the plain fruit...

V8 Juice - love this stuff!

I had tried NOS before and always struggled with in between meals hunger. I am on day 3 now and find that about 8 ounces half-way between meals really is satisfying.
Thought someone might find this helpful.

I have been nosing and walking daily. It has only been a week but I couldn't resist weighing. I have gained 2 pounds! I feel heavier! Should I tweak this just a little? I was thinking that I need to allot a certain percentage of the plate to veggies.... Any feedback would be great. I would really li...

My goal for July

is to have no red days and to walk one hour every day. I started on Tuesday (the first) and this morning my MIL asked if I was losing weight. I know that I can't be down more than a pound or two but it made my day!
I plan on weighing on Aug. 1.
Good Luck to all you fellow nosers!

Iw week 2 more difficult than week 1?

It seems that I read a post by Reinhard that week 2 is hard and at times folks find themselves a little wobbly. Is that the consensus? I started 3 weeks ago, did great, then completely went off the plan. This morning I am starting again and it seems that I had read this sort of lapse was common. I w...
