I do that, too! I don't snack all day Friday or anything, but I do pop in to the little Guatemalan bakery near my house and buy a dessert to eat with Friday dinner. There's something about digging in to that Tres Leches cake that makes all of the week's abstainance worthwhile.

Ahhhh.... that's better
I took the offending sweets home so they can no longer tempt me at the office. And more importantly, today when I woke up, I looked myself in the eye in the mirror and said, "You know better than to eat like that! Today, the madness must stop!!" :D 11:40 AM: so far, so good. Good luck everyone on re...

Girl Scout Cookies of Death
So, the Girl Scout cookies arrived at work this week. (Why did I sign up for 3 boxes? Why?) Attached was a cute little note saying, "Thank you for buying my cookies! Now my troop can go on fun and exciting field trips!! Love, Meagan!!!" That's great, Meagan. I'm glad you're so perky with your pre-pu...

try this
I too feel a bit "off" if I eat nothing but sweets for breakfast. Mornings when breakfast consists entirely of donuts that someone brought to a meeting are the absolute worst!! Here's what I tried, based on the advice of someone who had the same problem. I started mixing in a little protein with eac...

Has to be a tiny image
KK,
You can add an avatar image on your Profile page. And yes, you do have to "pre-shrink" it, but that's super easy with a program such as Photoshop, which I have. If you want to send me your image, I'll shrink it to the proper dimensions for you. piratejenny76 at gmail dot com!

Gold stars!!
Kat, I'm laughing because I thought about those gold stars, too! Marking the "S" on my calendar is like when your teacher gave you a gold star on your homework or your test, in recognition of a really excellent job and hard work. The "boost" that it gives me is just the same! Maybe I ought to buy so...

Marking "No S" on the calendar
I have a wall calendar at home, next to my bed. I have started marking the "No S" icon (that S inside a circle with a slash through it) on each calendar day for which I successfully followed the rules and had no Sweets, Snacks, or Seconds. Does anybody else do this? I feel a tremendous sense of acco...

True
I think you're right, Freakwitch. I've wondered why that correlation exists. I believe it's due to the fact that we're an extremely overindulgent society. Nothing is forbidden, you can do whatever you want, "it's a free country." So people overindulge in everything, including food, with little thoug...

Maintaining at 115 lbs
I'm not overweight, but I stick to No S for weight maintenance. It's kept me to about 115 pounds for the past 2-3 years. I am 29 years old, 5 foot 4. I do not belong to a gym, but I walk at least 30 minutes each day, and a couple times a week I do some sit-ups/leg lifts/tricep-dips at home while wat...

Alcohol
Deb, that's a good point. Now my curiosity is piqued. I'm going to google the caloric content of alcoholic beverages.... Here is a helpful chart: http://www.health.gov/dietaryguidelines/dga2005/report/HTML/table_e3.htm Groovy! My whiskey sours have even fewer calories than I thought they did! Althou...

Whiskey Sour
Not to encourage you to be an alkie or anything. But if I were you, I'd whip out the blender and fix myself a whiskey sour. Alcohol is allowed on No S. A whiskey sour is sweet, but not too sweet, not like eating candy. Also, it takes a while to haul the blender out, plug it in, retrieve the whiskey,...

I second that! Thanks, Reinhard, the mnemonic device is invaluable.
Thanks, too, to all of you guys who post here all the time and encourage each other. Keepin' it real.

LOL
What a great idea Deb! I may have to print Neon Man to stick onto my own fridge. I used to have a picture up on my fridge to prevent snacks. It was the reverse of what you did. I took digital photos of all of my favorite clothes that were just a tiiiiny bit too small to wear. I put all the photos to...

Muffin Recipe
Hey all! Here, at last, is that muffin recipe I alluded to earlier. I make these all the time and they freeze excellently. Two of them, with a little peanut butter, make a fantastic breakfast. They are slightly labor intensive, what with shredding 2 cups worth of apples, but they taste so healthy, t...

Breakfast
Hi guys! Ain't logged on in a while, boy, the holiday season is nuts. Inge, for breakfast I typically eat two muffins with a bit of peanut butter spread over the top. I make the muffins myself at home in normal-sized muffin tins. I make different recipes, but today I brought apple muffins. The ingre...

milk
When I get super hungry between meals, I will often have a glass of milk. Or, if I'm concerned about calories, I might make a large pot of decaf coffee (or buy one from Starbucks etc), particularly flavored coffee because it tastes like a treat. (I looooove coffee!) I put milk or cream in the coffee...

"No Spirits" and Spain-style mealtimes
Greetings all! For years I've been using a similar diet of my own invention, which is "no snacks, no alcohol, no dessert" for concrete periods of time (e.g. 2 weeks). I don't follow this diet all the time, just to lose a few pounds now and then - though now that I'm 29 years old and my metabolism is...
