Don't be an idiot!

I can't vouch for the validity of this article, but if the cited studies' conclusions are true, it certainly underscores the importance of "not being an idiot" on S days.

Thanks, dude. I figure going slowly with a lesser amount of reps should do the trick. 8 pounds sounds so light! (I'm carrying at least that much on each butt cheek - ).

I do not think it is in any way a dessert. But it lacks enough protein to hold me until lunch. Eat it with a hard boiled egg, or a sausage or something. In terms of calories, it's very tame. Don't worry.

Well, I went to buy it before any replies came. I had to choose between the 8 pound and the 10 pound (plus the much heavier ones). I ended up choosing the 10 pound, b/c it was much cheaper (the 8 pound one had a molded plastic handle, whereas the 10 pound had a wood handle). I can barely lift the th...

Sledge size

This has probably been covered many times before, but I haven't found the info yet.

I am a female, 5'2". How heavy a sledge do I start with?

Thanks all!

I think my wrinkles look less wrinkly with a bit of natural fat filler! Amen to that. Have you seen some of these actresses who get into their forties and still try to keep the same low, low weight (Courteney Cox comes to mind). Their faces can get positively gaunt. My brother-in-law likes to say, ...

I usually do one egg, one slice double fiber bread w/butter, and soy sausage.

I agree that the fat helps keep me full for a long time.

Sometimes I will eat leftover salad (romaine, feta, sunflower seeds, etc.) for b/f.

Thanks, fkwan. Well, it's depressing, but at my current food intake and exercise levels I should reach my conservative goal weight (which is about 15 lbs more than my real goal) by November 2009.

Crap. :(

Here are the earliest references I could find:

I'd say the quote from Malory is the original, at least insofar as phrasing is concerned.

What really surprised me was restaurant food -- sit-down chain restaurants. I was prepared for fast food to be full of sodium. I didn't taste that the food was salty, but had very puffy feet and ankles the next day. I'm guessing that, with fast food, Chinese food and prepared packaged food, it's no...

I always assumed that when people spoke of using clothing size as a gauge for their weight loss, they meant in terms of any changes in how the clothes they already own fit them. I know that there are things in my closet that I cannot possible squeeze into right now. If in several months (or years!) ...

I agree with all of you. If you're eating just to get rid of something, then basically you're treating your body like a garbage can. And if it's something unhealthy, it will harm your body in the process, whereas it can't hurt the trash can!!! On a similar note, when I was in the hospital havi...

Here's what works for me: at each meal, I eat low fat/healthy if I don't have a real strong craving for something else. After a few "healthy" meals, my body may start wanting something richer, so I have a nice, hearty meal with anything I really want, and then I'm satisfied. The same goes for weeken...

Sunday will be the end of week 4. I haven't gotten weighed (I never weigh myself!), but yesterday two separate people told me I looked like I lost weight. Thank God!!!! If other people notice, then it's official. :D :D

Hi Viggie. I went to D.C. a couple of weeks ago and found this plan to be awesome for a vacation. I didn't treat any days as S, but it was still great b/c I was allowed to eat out at restaurants 3 meals a day with no remorse. That was quite a treat! Normally I would have skipped a meal or two rather...
