Hi Kathleen, There's a great book that you should take a look at titled "How to have Your Cake and Your Skinny Jeans too" by Josie Spinardi. It's all about how diets and restricted eating are a prescription for weight gain and lead to "gasping for food" and "eating 'cause you ate". She advocates "hu...

Help with Cravings

I started taking 1 T of ground flax seed every morning (& sometimes 1T at night too) and, after a few days, I noticed that I have had much less trouble with cravings for sweets (and craving for unhealthy food in general). My blood sugar seems a lot more stable and it seems like it's been because of ...

Super size Nation

This is a very interesting article from the small plate movement website which discusses how subconsiously influential plate size and portion size are, whether you are a phd, nutritionist or a 5 year old.

CONGRATULATIONS!! I know you've struggled a lot in the past and it was so nice to read about your good news. I think the beauty of No S is the emphasis on the structure of eating not which foods can or can't eat. I hope you will continue to post and keep us updated on your progress :D

It sounds a little weird, but dry skin brushing is just lightly brushing your skin with a natural bristle brush to stimulate the skin and help with circulation and exfoliation. It really is great for your skin. There are lots of sites explaining the benefits and techniques, but I use the method from...

weight loss, loose skin & skin brushing

TTapp is a great exercise program which also advocates skin brushing, to help with loose skin.

Congrats on a successful day! I just wanted to pop in and say that I am more hungry when I have a carb based breakfast (even oatmeal). After a lot of experimentation I found 2 eggs with broccoli, parmesan cheese cooked in a little butter keeps me going until lunch. But everyone's different of course...

I really sympathize, some weeks are just better than others. I sail along thinking this is a pretty easy way of eatting and then, sometimes, for no particular reason, it's just not. I guess the longer it becomes habitual, the better it gets. The only thing that helps me is to distract myself if poss...

I LOVED the following blog comment as this is exactly how I feel: RedSalamander said... I am trying to pinpoint exactly when everyone became brainwashed that we cannot possibly go more than 2 hours without eating. When I was a kid, in the early '70's, we were rarely given snacks between meals -- eve...

Couch to 5K because it's easy and motivating (20 minutes 3x /wk), walking to the grocery store because I like to have a destination when I walk, also some pilates or TTAPP because they only take about 15 or 20 minutes and that's all I can commit to.

Wow, it's been a while since I checked in, but the last 2 weeks of May were not the best...started w/ TOM & went downhill from there, although did try to maintain the 3 meals/ day most of the time. However, it's good to be back to the structure of Nos. I KNOW this is the way I want to eat from now o...

i've been having 2 eggs sunny side up, on 2 halves of a toasted mulit-grain english muffin with a side of steamed broccoli and pear green tea. It's delicious, (especially since I'm usually hungry), the broccoli helps fill me up and I'm still not tired of it.

I really appreciate the idea and flexibility of a NWS day. I definitely feel that just knowing it's there helps you feel in control and prevents you from rebelling against the fixedness of only weekends or official holidays. I had my first NWS day yesterday, it was dh's bday, and I'm very happy with...

Well I've been reading the posts and nosing for about a month, but I finally decided to get serious and develope a routine last Sunday, 5/4. Since I want to lose weight as fast as is healthy, I am going to build muscle by walking and TTapping. I've been following this routine for about a week and so...

night binging

This was my number one problem before I started no S. I'd have a great day all day, then eat and eat after dinner. The worst was sometimes I would go to bed, then wake up, wide awake at 3 in the morning, hungry, with nothing to do, and not able to get back to sleep, so "of course" I had to eat!! But...
