I was also a binge eater and had what seemed an addiction to sugar and starch. People would tell me there was no such thing. I could be disciplined in do many areas of my life but if there was a loaf of crunchy white bread in the house I would eat the lot. I could not have just one piece. The same w...

Thanks for posting this. It is one I have not seen before. Shaun Tan is a local from my city and I love his work. One of my favourite books is his "The Arrival" which has no words but beautifully tells a story with illustrations alone.

I am a bit of an all or nothing type of gal. Binge or starve are two eating plans that I have been good friends with in the past. So I have also been known to go overboard on S days. What has worked for me is to pick foods that I really like but consider "treats" and have them on S days at meal time...

Noel, I hesitate to correct you when I have always found your comments spot on. However, some women do develop muscles very easily. I know we are not the norm but we are still out there. I have extremely muscular arms (with a bit of fat!!). I am self conscious about them and never wear sleeveless to...

You sound a bit like me. I used to feel that I had no willpower over food at all. I used to eat three healthy meals and then basically eat junk - salty, savoury, sweet, you name it - in between, before and after. It was one long foodfest day after day. I would have good intentions that "today is the...

My strategy when on a 3.5 month vacation last year was to keep to two s days for the week but have them when they suited. I felt 3.5 months was too long to not have some structure - all s days would have been a bad move for me! I did this because I was new to No-S and wanted to build habit. I didn't...

Maintenance

Regarding maintenance (or what to do when you're not on a diet). I have realized after doing No-S for about 5 weeks now that there is no "after the diet" phase. Since this phase has always been my undoing I am so happy to just be able to do this (No-S) forever. In the past I have been extremely good...

I find the idea of a "happy weight" to be practical but also variable. My happy weight before children was 132 lbs. I am 5 ft 6 and I used to be very active pre-child, lots of high impact, high energy sports etc. I am a very muscular build and used to have six pack abs that some of male friends envi...

I echo what Dawn said. Because everyone is different with different body types, different weightloss histories, different starting weights, different amounts of fat to lose, different eating habits, styles, likes and dislikes etc etc etc - I can only talk about me and see if anything resonates with ...

I recently read an interesting book "Potatoes not Prozac" which links sugar sensitivity and diet. I don't know how relevant it may be to you but I found that the description of a sugar addict was me to a tee. I have no willpower to resist eating when I am on a high sugar/refined carb diet. The book ...

I am new so that may not qualify me to provide any authoritative answer but here is my take anyway! I think hot chocolate would be okay because Reinhard says you can have sugar in your coffee or tea so I assume other sweet drinks would be acceptable. He also suggests drinking a glass of milk to help...

Permission to have an S day midweek??

This is probably a naff question but I am like that when I start something new!! I tend to want to know all the rules and every exception even when they are simple like the No-s diet. Anyway, here goes. I am travelling to Singapore for a week with my family for a holiday. The family want to go the R...

Overdoing it on S days

I am new and have read many of the threads but may have missed information on my query. If so , I apologize. My query relates to the S days. I started nosing last Monday and have done well. Stuck to my three meals etc. Today (Saturday) is my first S day. In the past I have been a binge eater. I can ...
