A month and change in

Since I've started at some point in October, I've lost 10 lbs and my blood pressure has dropped from 142/90 to 104/66.

This is awesome.

tough no s day

having trouble w/this today. there are really tasty looking sweet things surrounding me today. i haven't caved today, but it's really hard. what are some good strategies for difficult days, i.e. days wherein you strongly desire sweets/snacks, but cannot have them?

I think the No S diet lends itself well to diet issues in people w/ eating disorders. I have struggled with eating disorders my entire life; as such, any diet that involves actually COUNTING anything (calories, points, etc) is not helpful for me. Using the No S diet allows me to eat well, three time...

Two weeks in...

And I've lost five pounds. I'm always amazed by how this process works. It's helpful, I think, that I can still eat (mostly) whatever I want. I can still have coffee, I can still eat tasty soups, etc etc.

Hopefully I can keep this up.

Pumpkin recipes

I love fall. I love fall food. I love pumpkin. What are some good pumpkin recipes that are safe for week days? The only ones I'm really familiar with are pumpkin pie, pumpkin cookies, etc, which are not good for weekdays.

Fell off the wagon

So I'm a 2nd year medical student. Last year, prior to starting school, I had managed to lose about 10 lbs on the No-S diet. I was very proud, as I had been approaching the overweight side of things. Gradually, though, school and stress took its toll, and I gained back the 10 lbs and added another 1...

No S Diet during school

So I start medical school tomorrow (yikes!) and am concerned about keeping myself healthy during this stressful time. I've been doing the No-S Diet all summer with my husband, and we've both done pretty well, losing 9 lbs each. Partially, this is because we have time to go on walks, exercise, etc. S...

I am not sure how many doctors know about it. It seems like a pretty reasonable diet to suggest to someone, at least as something to try. I mean, it's not really restricting like Atkins/South Beach/etc, and it doesn't require counting food points like Weight Watchers, and it doesn't require you to b...

I would watch House, but we don't have cable. I haven't watched tv in about two months, except for movie rentals. Yeah, I'm really proud of my husband. I started doing this with him because I thought it was interesting and hey, two is always better than one. He was the one that really needed to do s...

I live in a smaller town where I can walk everywhere. I walk to the grocery store, the post office, the farmers' market, etc. On an average day, I walk about 2.8 miles. Additionally, I try to do kick boxing videos about four or five times a week. (The endorphin rush that I get from exercising helps ...

Newish to No S Diet

My husband and I have been doing this diet for about a month. It seems to suit us pretty well. I've been exercising (walking, kick boxing, shovelglove) pretty much every day and have managed to lose about 7 lbs. My husband has lost about 4 lbs. It's funny how common sense works. This seems like a di...

I'd be pleased to take it off of your hands. My husband and I are new-ish to this way of eating. We've been doing it for about a month now, and find it to be very sustainable.
