Less worried about food, more focus on joy.

I been doing No S for over two years. I'm a slow loser, and have seem be idiots beyond losing weight. NoS changed my focus from controlling my eating, which I am deeply grateful for, to thinking about my levels of stress and joy. I'm trying to decrease one and increase the other. I have the job I ha...

My No S mod for thus year. Fewer refined carbs for dinner

This may not apply to most, but it's interesting information. My husband saw his doc, who noted that one of his blood markers was high. This marker indicates sugar and was up since from last physical. The doc recommended that he change up his evening meals, no more refined carbs, pasta, bread, potat...

I love no S for the peace of mind

Hello all; I've been doing no S for more than a year now. Some parts of this may be hard for people to read. I'm not posting for sympathy, but to share that sometimes life is very hard and how no S helped me through. Over the no s year, I've lost some weight, maybe 10 - 12 pounds. I don't know, beca...

no S boot camp

Thank you for posting. I was really moved by how much time, knowledge and work you put in to help a fellow soldier help himself. You gave him tools that could change his life and then made sure he knows how to use them. Too often people tell someone something potentially life changing, and then don'...

Better now

I'm over it, thanks in large part to the helpful and kind comments on this site. the feedback was really helpful, especially about it taking a while for my body to adjust after a history of extreme diets, and just being patient. i've been doing pretty well on no-s, and just have to accept that my re...

I am sorry

I'm sorry to hear of your friends passing. It's tough to say the right things, but really, or this time, there is no one right thing. When someone leaves, for me it always brings up an old echo of other losses as well. Peace to you and yours.

Discouraged

Thanks all. I feel much better and found your thoughts and insight to be very helpful. When I started this, I said I would give myself a year on this system for moderation. I intend to stick to that, and it's just a bonus that there is a lovely community of kind people to share the journey with. Eac...

Discouraged

I don't think there was an meanness behind her comment. It just sort of leaped out. Yes, I am worried about her drinking. We have known her for many years, and I know she has some major stress in her life. On a practical level, I checked the numbers pretty carefully. I forget sometimes how important...

Discouraged

Hi guys, I'm here for a little encouragement today. I've been doing no s since January. Mostly green days, not too crazy on the weekends. Not much excercise. So, went to pay taxes, and the first words out of my accountant's mouth "oh, you've gained so much weight, what happened to you?" And so on. S...

Took kids to ice cream and didn't have some!

Took the kids for fancy ice cream after skating and didn't have any. Not even tastes stolen from the kids. They love no-s days, since now their treats are safe from me. I used to take a chocolate tax from them and feel good about having changed that habit. After the first bit of denial, I was fine, ...

Chai tea lattes

I buy Chai tea in bags, there are a number of them in the health food tea section, and sweeten them with liquid stevia. i don't drink coffee, so this is my caffeine and still a little sweet. Stevia is an herb that is very sweet. Hopefully more natural than splenda and other chemical sugar substitute...

thank you.

This is really helpful. I do sometimes feel too full, so perhaps cutting back on my plate sizes will help. I'm starting to think I eat to relax, and so I go for a certain level of fullness. Anyhow, who knows, perhaps I'm a slow starter. With my metabolism going up and down, I'm sure without NoS, I'd...

No, that's a great question.

That was a really thoughtful question, well worded. My doctor thinks I should lose. I'm 5'4 and 175, medium build. I think I'm pretty far over where I should be naturally, and also think my metabolism is way slowed down from years of drastic diets. Atkins was my life for years, but gradually stopped...

I'm just not losing

Hi, I've been doing no S pretty faithfully for about 3 months now. (Bought the book and loved it). However, I have not lost anything. I am pretty good about it and try to make healthy choices. I know I'm not geting enough excercise, and in addition, tests show that my thyroid levels are a little low...
