This Ranger is riding off into the sun!

Here's me reporting back in after more than four months. Gosh, how time flies!! Well, I found a cheap mechanical treadmill on eBay I could pick up on my way home from a longish car trip, but it took a while for me to really get going. At first, in imitation of Shamrock Mommy's example, I tried to UR...

Reinhard, Wow! Great new functionality. Many thanks. I already love the table view and the statistics have made me feel much worse about my failures than the regular view , so well done indeed! My hat's off to you once again! As for feature requests, I'll repeat: the ability to rename a tag wi...

2.5 weeks status report

Well, I started "shugging" 2.5 weeks ago and haven't missed an N-day so far. I shug only on those N-days where I don't do any other exercise, though. I haven't exercised this regularly since my teens (20 years ago) and I feel great! Kudos to Reinhard for his masterly insight into the human psyche. M...

Thanks. I'll probably go mechanic as they sell for as little as $50 on German eBay and might well do the trick. If that should fail for some reason, I can always upgrade.

I've been investigating the best way to set myself up for "netxercise" and have meanwhile eliminated all exercise machines except treadmills for the following reasons: (mini-)steppers: Apparently, the pistons on this type of machine heats up a lot due to friction and when you use them for longer tha...

Thanks, Reinhard. That's pretty much how I'd reasoned myself. I'll post my impressions once I've had a chance to compared with a sledge.

Curl bar an alternative?

Hi. I've now been doing a somewhat modified version of Shovelglove for a full week, but I'm using a 14 pound curl bar instead of a sledge as I didn't want to buy one before finding out if I'd really enjoy shugging and stick with it. Now that I'm pretty sure I will do this regularly, I'm wondering if...

SRM, Many thanks for your quick reply. You've pretty much convinced me it might work for me, too, seeing how you have no problems in spite of being carsick easily. I'll go scour eBay for a good deal on a treadmill then... Also, congrats on your great progress on the NoS diet. It would be very intere...

Home page doesn't point to all the good stuff

Hehe, I thought Reinhard might want to brush...

Recorded Books

This site offers superb audio book rentals. I haven't used them because I'm in Germany and they are US-based, but I'd love to. Maybe there's something there for American rangers:

Does this really work?

I'm trying to imagine myself trundling along while trying to focus on the keyboard and / or reading on the screen. Somehow, my visualizations always involve a feeling of sickness or a headache. (I've tried reading in the back of a car ...) Can anyone who's done computing-walking confirm that such di...

Fallback Habitcals

LA_Loser: Hey, maybe now that your Habitcals are greening so nicely, it's time to change your alias here...? :)

Thanks for that pointer, it was helpful and I feel I may use something like that in the near future.

Gee!

Reinhard, Many thanks for your kind offer of manual editing! Since all my tags are still just a couple of days old - and since I know I wouldn't want to have to edit stuff on demand if I was in your shoes - I'll simply delete the ones I have, give them more general names (e.g. "EarlyDinner" instead ...

Ability to rename?

Hi Reinhard! Thanks for putting all this great stuff here for free! I've started some HabitCal projects but would really like the ability to rename trackers. E.g. I created one Dinner1830, meaning I want to have dinner before half past six every day, but now I'd like to change it to seven, which is ...

Ross' sledge hammer workout - a nice twist on SG?

Hello Shoveglovers all! I've just picked up on this and am about to drive to the DIY store to pick up a hammer. However, from previous attempts at fitness, I'm familiar with rosstraining.com. Ross makes a point of avoiding expensive equipment while maintaining ultra-high intensity and variety in his...
