I wonder if the tire hammering is as healthy as shovelgloving. It's a lot of stress to hit something repeatedly, and with a shoglo, you have to slow the hammer down with each strike, which provides (in my head anyway) most of the workout. This guy is awesome, though. It's amazing to me that I used t...

It's really motivating reading this account. I also wasn't thrilled with Home Depot, though mine's prices were lower. I could only find an 8 pounder, and bought it anyway. I found the exercise to be challenging, but I had that mental macho thing going on, and really wanted to start at 12. I returned...

Everyone should listen to their body, and if something hurts, don't let it become an injury that blocks your ability to ex...

I got one of these doorframe hanging models when I started shovelgloving. I can do only a couple of chin-ups, but it's great exercise. If you can't do any at all, just get a platform to stand on, and use your legs to help yourself do the pull-ups. Obviously, make sure you work you arms as hard as yo...

My shoglo stands even after it's wrapped in a sweater (so maybe it's not thick enough...). I think the sweater is a helpful bit of protection, actually. It's not going to take away 100% of the damage a missed strike causes, but it does add in a margin for error, and everybody has an old ugly sweater...
