My 4 year old daughter was Dororthy, my 17 month old was (a dalmatian) Toto. I was apparently Uncle Henry (a grey shirt was enough -- I imagine the requirements may get more exacting in coming years). Oh, those 4 year old girls...I have two, who were princesses. They informed my husband he had to b...

Maybe when you eat at night you are eating more calories overall?gratefuldeb67 wrote:Hi Wosnes, I don't feel it's a myth at all in my case. This is a pattern I see in myself when this happens.

the things you are both talking about are TUFF! I love what clicklbd said about just "one day in years of nosing", one of the things No S is helping me with is just deal with the "mess and unexpectedness" of life, Yes, and the other thing that occurred to me is that NORMAL eaters do occasionally ea...

I'm very sorry to hear about your friend. That's awful. It seems not just trivial, but wrong to worry about food at times like that. You did just fine. Reinhard, thank you. Yesterday was the funeral, and I suspect my heart was more empty than my belly, but I had a snack in the evening. I was feelin...

Tiffani, stress will do it to you. My friend died over the weekend. She was 38, and had two young children. Yesterday her husband contacted me to let me know. It was pretty awful, and I ate last night. Not chowed down, but ate dessert and it wasn't an S day. But to celebrate small favors, my dessert...

Is there any kind of online calculator that could help me determine BMI or % body fat? BMI? Yes. TONS if you google. Here's one I found: http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/ Unfortunately, % body fat is not so easy. There are a few ways to do it, but the most accurate method involves dunking your body ...

Re: frustrated
I read the No S book and thought it was great. A matter of fact, everything made sense to me. I have been at No S for about 3 weeks and today I weighed myself and the scale was the same. My doc wants me to lose 30 pounds based on BMI. I don't think BMI is that useful in assessing weight loss. It's ...

Now, if I coud just lose some weight. I'm so unhappy with how I look in my clothes. Has anyone else had a similar experience, and if so, how did it work out for you? I'm not an expert, but I wondered if your doctor thinks you need to lose weight? Before I went on these crazy diets, I pretty natural...

These are interesting. Talk about simple food! Wosnes, thank you so much for sharing these. SO interesting! The pasta with peas is pretty much Pasta fagioli, except with peas instead of the traditional beans. We used to eat pasta fagioli a LOT in college -- my roomie was first generation Italian, a...

learned something new about myself
If you asked me before today, I would tell you I absolutely do not eat when I'm stressed. In fact, I totally lose my appetite. I would say that's sort of true. If I'm very stressed about one thing in particular, then I don't eat. I sit and fret. If I've got a lot of low level stress on a bunch of th...

Re: a question and comment
1) Did some people find they had to have fattier meals when they started? I'm used to eating higher volume foods at my meals, but like many have said, I get very hungry between meals. I have to eat more protein. I read somewhere that folks who ate the same amount of calories with different proporti...

One of my eating hangups is eating healthy, meaning I can get obsessed with it. I once had a nutritionist tell me to eat a candybar once in a while. I too love apples with peanut butter, and I love "choosy mothers choose" Jiff. To me the really good stuff is the sugar free stuff. I never liked peanut butter as a kid. I thought it was nasty. Hi, Wosnes. It might have been me, because I like Clean Eating. It can have a diety feeling, but they do talk a lot about how being on a diet is more likely to make you fat. And while the philosophy is to eat super healthy whole foods pretty much all the time (I'm working on balance), I do like the ...

No more PROMISE "margarine" or fat-free sour cream or fat-free franks or "lite" dressing. It's amazing the freedom this brings! I decided to only use lowfat if that's truly what I prefer. There are some things that I like better "lighter" because too much fat can give me a stomach ache. But it is n...

Plus appetite is not always controlled (in fact, rarely is controlled) by how full or empty the stomach actually is, especially these days. Well, that's definitely true. I, for one, am much happier eating real food. Yes, I am too! I also feel fuller when I do that...don't you? (Or is that ju...

Studies have shown that the Chinese eat 30% MORE than we do (taking height/weight differences into consideration). But, at least until recently, they were far more active. The same study showed that the Chinese who were considered "sedentary," typically the elderly or infirm, walked or biked 2-10 m...

Re: What happens when I don't eat what I wanted in the 1st p
If you eat late: 1. Eat a small meal. 2. Drink a glass of water after eating. 3. Eat a wedge of apple. Now part of my bedtime routine is to eat 1/4 - 1/2 apple. Absolutely no problems since this. Interesting! Apples can give me heartburn, and I burp after I eat them, but I do love them. But for me,...

Re: What happens when I don't eat what I wanted in the 1st p
Actually, I don't think there's a thing wrong with eating at 9 P.M. If your schedule is like mine, eating at 9:30pm means you are going to bed with a full stomach, which means you are risking bad heartburn and reflux. It's just not the best idea. Of course, I might be older than you are. I used to ...

What happens when I don't eat what I wanted in the 1st place
Tonight we cooked on the grill. We do that a lot. However, I really did NOT want hamburgers and hotdogs, which everyone else did want. Then my hotdog got burned, and my husband and I had a fight over the hotdogs, so I ended up cooking one quickly in the house and eating it. It was ok, but not what I...

I know that your calorie requirements are based on activity level and weight. But don't smaller people have smaller appetites? Certainly, the stomach (the physical stomach, not your gut) should be smaller -- it's about the size of your fist. Otherwise, small people (like those in southern China) wou...
