I'm with Sinnie. The one plate rule is great but not if it's a hindrance to you. I like Reinhards default rule. For him it's oatmeal. It's figuring out a meal that you like that is reasonable but will still get you to the next meal. For everyone it's different because we like different foods and we ...

Agree with above. But for me it was also what happens outside cafeteria late night pizza, beer (might want to look into glass ceiling), chips between classes...if I was to go back I'd focus on eating meals. Figuring out items that are there consistently that you like but are reasonable might help. Y...

Everyone here is right. Skipping meals makes you hungry and you make bad decisions. Had small dinner then skipped breakfast. Boom quarter pounder and large fries for lunch. I'm with you. I can easily binge when I get too hungry. Really this diet is about stopping the binging. I think most people get...

Who Knew No-S the Yoga Diet
So this girl I'm kind of seeing is into power yoga and faithfully watches this guy's tapes. He's on pretty good shape and if I see a celebrity I'll often google their diet hoping it will lead to the holy grail of the perfect body. Well this guy had a diet page and low and behold its almost exactly n...

Outstanding
First impressive weight loss. Second, you did it the way Reinhard suggested by focusing on habits. I am learning for you that the problem I have is being distracted by diet mentality or not seeing a loss everyday on the scale but instead focusing on three plates a day nothing more. I also need to re...

I'd try to keep it to N days too except for a couple days a week. What's helped me when I mess up which is primarily snacking is to remember that I'm not only taking in extra calories but also ruining my appetite for the next meal and making that meal less enjoyable. Keep track via a notebook. I'd r...

Enjoying all these salad ideas. I like a good vinegarette. Just olive oil, vinegar (either balsamic or red wine or combination of both) sometimes I'll add mustard and then I always add sugar not much but a teaspoon for a cups worth. Sugar makes a huge difference. Other good meal ideas are breakfast....

I think this varies. I'm not sure of the study that exercise is not beneficial. The Africans were much more slight so maybe per pound they started off burning less calories but ended up burning the same because of exercise. I hear what others are saying about exercise making you hungry. If I walk or...

I don't think it's so much missing a meal as what happens after you miss one. Do you overeat at the next meal? Snack? If missing the meal causes you to break a no s rule in the future that is bad. Those who practice IF should be aware. To each his own. Some seem to have great success. Others not so....

60 years ago we did have processed foods. Plenty of white bread and less vegetables. We did not have as much soda. Truth is we eat more of everything and because of many factors but I think because it is cheap and readily available. I think this might meet a clinical definition for many can't stop, ...

I think everyone's food suggestions are great but look at environment and psychology too. We are too accustomed to dieters and then think constantly of food. Takes time to adjust to a low maintenance way of eating. Also look at activities. Fore it is easier to eat while tied to the desk or tv. Put m...

A little off subject but the author of the book is a bit of a fad diet fanatic. He subscribes to the paleo diet/low carb diet of Arthur Devany a fellow economics professor. Paleo is great in theory. However, practice can be difficult. The animals you are eating, unless they are truly organically grass fed (and therefore almost certainly prohibitively expensive), are not going to be the same as the animals eaten in ancestoral times. They have different kinds of fat, etc...

First, these are bad, or at least unnecessary. They provide empty calories with no nutritional value (diet soda just gives you chemicals). That being said, it is hard to eliminate something, without a replacement. For diet soda, how about plain iced tea? What has been really effective for me is club...

No Television Diet
I think the hardest part of the program is not snacking. However, I think that our current lifestyle contributes to this more than anything. I realized this weekend that watching TV makes me hungry. I think eating meat comes from the idea that you need meat to feel satiated until the next meal. The whole protein keeps you full idea. In reality it is fat that provides satiety. Looking back my analysis was a bit over the top. I just got a Eureka moment when I realized that the problem was my constant snacking. Winnie, I think you nailed it more than anything. Why this makes Sense
I am just getting into this program and I have been thinking why it makes sense. If we believe in calories in vs. calories out you almost have to lower your weight following the rules. Marathon training works with NoS with limitations. If you are not training at an extremely elite level, you do not have to do runs that require extra calories/carbs more than one day a week. That one day is your long run which is the base for the marathon. You would run shorter runs two to four days...

Blue you and I agree. My point was that other cultures actually practice No S. I agree that many people gain when visiting other countries. I think No S could be a good system for Oprah. The real tale here is that Oprah is really the first celebrity to PUBLICLY demonstrate the failure of American obsession with diets. Others such as Kristie Alley have been linked to one plan. Oprah, however, has gone through the gamut of diet plans from...

Sorry to hear about the weight gain. I can't add anymore than what has been said here. However, crazy as it might sound, it is just six pounds.
