I am totally excited by No S and would really be thrilled to share, but everyone I've mentioned it to (3 or 4 people, all close) seem really dismayed by the harsh, restrictive eating plan, that I've been discouraged and am definitely waiting to be asked in the future. Though I must admit that no sna...

I've only ever gone with 2 of the three, no snacking and no seconds. Since I can have a sweet anytime, I try to make it special every time. I used to love candy bars, but they just aren't meal-worthy anymore. I am also allowed a single chocolate whenever I am willing to get up for it. If I'm already...

Cool beans! I've been wavering on whether or not a person should call something like this a fail, and I've finally decided. (I know you all can't wait to hear!) If what you're measuring is no s habit, it is not a fail. If what you're measuring is conscious overeating, it is a fail. So if you had a d...

I don't have much tendency to move from one excess to it's opposite excess. I do think about the system as a plan for eliminating over-eating. Over-eating can be a strain on your body, and so is severe under-eating. The right amount of work on a problem is the one that is sustainable indefinitely, w...

I weigh myself whenever I want to but I only record it once a week. And I allow myself to jiggle on the scale to see if I can get it to say something lower on that day if I want to. (usually I don't, but I'm allowed). It'll always be within some amount of what I "actually" weigh that day, right? Som...

I just went through a "grit my teeth and stay on no s" phase of frustration, it lasted about three weeks. I can tell when it happens, because I start weighing myself every day, instead of once a week. I still only record it once a week, but start looking every day as if something will be "happening"...

Are your meals made up of food you love, or are you eating shoulds? In my early days, my off plan eats were a problem of remembering the rules, not acts of will. I can't tell from what you say if you're accidentally going off plan and then throwing in the towel, or deciding to have the cookie and th...

Don't over think it. eat what you want. What you want may change. Unfortunately, I also find that the same things do not satisfy in the same ways anymore. For example, earlier this year, for about 5 meals (lunch) over the course of two months, I had a can of pringles. The first four, I loved. The fi...

There is nothing inherently wrong with obesity. It carries with it greater risks, but so do many things, and it's not like it is a conscious choice, unlike many other things. I am willing to defend obesity any day of the week. I also advocate people love the body that they are in, and if talking it ...

Habit takes energy. In the beginning, habit takes mental energy, to remember to be "good". A person has a finite amount of mental energy to spend on being virtuous. Once you cross over the line from consciously "being good" to just having the habit, you aren't using as much energy on it day to day, ...

my bedtime hunger isn't really a gnawing hunger, it's more like stomach emptiness. I used to think that was hunger, but it's not, it's sort of a hollow feeling instead of an actual yearning.

a gnawing hunger would be harder to dismiss.

The idea about the weekends is you don't worry about it. If no rules triggers binge-like behavior, some people decide to self-impose a moderate restriction, like snacking only between lunch and dinner, or one treat, or two treats, or having seconds at dinner or whatever.

There are two strategies, the active "you're a big girl now" (because really, who wants to tell a toddler no snacks?) and the passive, lame snacks. When I was about that age I'd go tell my mom I was hungry, she'd ask me if I wanted a butter bread, I'd say no, she'd say I wasn't hungry. Hungry people...
