ps.. Ezuk, Argh!! Herbalife!!! I did that too for a while. Trust me, it's the pills that did everything.. That is, till they became illegal for killing some kids who had heart attacks from taking them. I kinda like the peace of mind that nobody has ever died from NoS :) Not even on an S day! LOL To...

Re: Getting Started

Well, what I meant was that I've changed my diet quite a bit - no more ice cream, mostly fruits & veg, maybe a glass of wine every now and then, and less than 8 oz of meat a day. But I haven't lost anything, and this change in diet occurred about five months ago. Remember that I stay relatively act...

Re: Getting Started

Anybody else experienced this sort of weird metabolic thing? First of all, welcome, and good luck! Second: I actually have anecdotal evidence from the food side of things (rather than exercise). Back in 2004/5, I did Herbalife for a few months (I think around 10 months, maybe a year). It was pretty...

Why does the before pic matter so much? Just curious. That's the whole point in an exercise regimen, to me: The way it changes your body. A single picture taken after a year gives me no clue. If I had a picture 1 month after starting and 1 year after starting, that would be good too. I'm trying to ...

Okay I found the pic. It's on the first page of Kayvan's thread here, somewhere near the bottom of the page. This is him after a year of doing SG.. You can see he's fit and has good muscle definition. http://everydaysystems.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=1525 Yes, I saw that one before I posted my original...

ezuk, how much weight are you using? I started with a 12lb hammer at work. Later I stopped working out at work and started at home. I use a 5kg hammer, which translates to 11 pounds. Not too heavy, I think... You guys are great :) I will let you know how it goes next time, as soon as my back is bet...

I'd say don't try it again until you feel better. Hopefully it's just "good soreness" from muscle fatigue, but you don't want to risk injury. Then, when you're feeling up to it again, start with slow, low rep sets (maybe just seven reps per move). If anything hurts, stop immediately and take the ne...

Good points indeed.

Tomorrow I will do it again, slower.

I think I overdid it.

Hi, Yesterday morning was my first shovelglove day. I did 14 minutes, no more. Felt pretty good -- I could feel the burn, but it wasn't killing me. This morning, my upper back is completely cramped and uncomfortable. I'm afraid to do another shovelglove session because I feel it might hurt my back. ...

There have actually been some pictures posted over the years, in various (but not total) states of undress. Just did some poking around and found this, but alas, the pictures seem to have been removed from flickr. http://everydaysystems.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=3961 Will poke some more later if we do...

We want to see you naked.

(I hope this doesn't get filtered! :) ) Okay, so now that I have your attention: A friend of mine and myself have both got sledgehammers and are about to begin. However, my friend raises an interesting question: Reinhard seems to be the only guy who ever posted before and during pictures. They are v...

Cool!

I'm looking for a nice routine to start with. I think tomorrow morning is going to be my first day -- or maybe the day after. :)

Re: Two shugging routines that really get the blood flowing

With all the discussion about burpees recently I decided add some to my shugging routine. What I came up with kicked my butt in a very good way… Routine 1 (conditioning for routine two) Routine 2 (Sledge Hammer Hell…but in a good way) This is equivalent to 50 reps of each move and 55 burpees. I...

So, it has been almost exactly one year since you posted this.

I'm curious - have there been any changes in your routine? What is it like now, come 2009?

Hey, thanks! :) This morning I went and bought the sledgehammer before I saw this reply. At the store, at first they told me they don't have any at all, period. (After on the phone they told me they do.) Then then guy pulls out this used 5kg sledgehammer (wegde-shaped, of course), and offers me a go...

Wedge versus two-sided sledge head

Hello, Around these parts (Israel) sledgehammers are more often wedge-shaped (you know, with a pointy bit on one side) rather than two-sided "mallet" style. I've noticed all the hammers shown in the Shug Amazon store are "mallet" style. Do you think if I would go with a wedge-style hammer it might c...

Shovelglove coach?

Hello, As I was going to sleep last night, I realized what was missing in my quest for physical fitness. I can lose weight. I'm doing it right now: http://thumbnails.imagebam.com/2302/bff7e423014696.gif Free Image Hosting by ImageBam.com I'm not a big guy, but I'm not thin and am not muscular. I hav...

OK, I eliminated the forum identifier. If you'd prefer something more specific but still concise, let me know and I'll mess around with it some more, this was the easiest thing to do. Ah! I've added the ShovelGlove URL above to my reader and simply could not figure out why I'm not getting only Shov...
