I think there is an issue of retraining our bodies. I think that psychologically, we begin to tell ourselves that we snack in the afternoon and so, when we don't after a few days, our brains react against us telling us that we must eat.

1/2 c. oatmeal
1 scant cup water
1 T. cocoa
1 T peanut butter
dash cinnamon

If quick oats, 90 seconds in microwave
If rolled outs, 3:33 in microwave at 50% power

Sweeten with brown sugar.

I also don't use artificial sweetener, because it gives me headaches. I avoid it altogether. Also, Stevia is held up as virtuous by some because it is "natural" but so is arsenic. Just because something comes from a tree doesn't mean it is good for you.

I just went to a restaurant for lunch and the plate of food they brought me was probably large enough to feed most of my family. I stopped about 1/3 of the way through. Just because you can eat 1 plate of food for each meal, doesn't mean you need to.

I actually don't like whole milk anymore, or even 1 or 2%, unless it is in my coffee. I think that the decision whether to do whole milk depends on how much of it you are drinking. If you drink a 1/2 gallon a day, it may lead to trouble. If you have a couple of glasses, maybe not so bad.

Improved sense of smell

I find that when I am eating well, my sense of smell is much more acute. Tonight, someone brought along Scotcharoos and I could smell them from across the room. I think this is a good thing.
