Those are cool! I love magnets :-)

Of course, to play devil's advocate, for $48 you could buy a second sledgehammer and just switch between the two.

But this is a neat solution, more portable than two sledgehammers and more easily stored. And it gets extra points for magnets.

Thanks, Reinhard! I've thought about using sand, or padding the weights with blankets. The backpack seems to be holding up fine, but I do worry about hitting myself. I was watching some Bulgarian Bag videos and a lot of those moves are adaptable to my packbell. The around-the-world swing is particul...

shovel-pack! pack-bell?

Hi, all. I've been a forum member for years, ever since my first abortive attempt at building the No S and shovelglove habits. My enthusiam has, in the past, rarely lasted more than a few days, but I'm happy to know that Reinhard's computer system remembers me :-) I'm back into it (for good this tim...

Another attempt, 1 year later...

I haven't been able to stick to this so far, and I've known about it for a year now... the best I've managed was 20 days on habit in December, but on Day 21 I lost it. So, now it's time for another go! I'll be starting tomorrow (Martin Luther King day being very important, and all, but probably not ...

Thanks for the input, everybody!

I ended up saving it for Saturday, and I'm glad I did -- while the scone itself is a fine pastry, with just a hint of sweetness, the maple oat scone is coated with 1/8" of maple sugar frosting!

Thanks for the welcome, Bluebunny. Yeah, is pizza is generally to be viewed with caution. I don't eat too much of it (though I did have some for lunch today, actually). Oatmeal is awesome. I have been an oatmeal connoisseur since my fencing coach turned me on to it -- she told me to have it for brea...

@RagDoll & bluebunny: thanks, good to know people agree with me :-) Bluebunny, do you find that the combination of the 7-day average and the 15-day average gives you more useful feedback than a single figure would? I know that *I* tend to fall in love with spiffy charts and numbers, and those number...

Could you perhaps use Organic cream of something? If every ingredient in a complex substance is "real food", then the substance itself should be, right?

The biggest difference between grass-fed beef and normal beef is not *what* the cattle eat but *where* -- grass-fed cattle get their food whilst wandering about on the pasture, socializing with other cows, and generally having a grand ol' time. If their pasture happened to be a cornfield -- and corn...

Regarding a maple oat scone...

I stopped by Starbucks a few minutes ago, just before it closed, and through application of wit and presentation of Shovelglove Delts induced the lovely barista to give me one of the pastries she would have had to throw away (it being closing time). I now have a maple oat scone, and a dilemma. Is it...

Jan 25 -- SUCCESS Jan 26 -- SUCCESS, but I think from now on sweetened, condensed milk in my coffee will be an S Day treat. It's just too sweet. This last weekend was interesting. I have a tendency to revert to perma-snacking on S-Days, it seems, and while I don't want to inflict guilt and self-loat...

John Walker's "Hacker's Diet" ( www.fourmilab.ch/hackdiet/ ) advocates taking daily weight measurements and ignoring them, but putting them into an excel spreadsheet and tracking the 10-day moving average. This way, you'll see clear trends as you lose weight, without freaking out at daily fluctuatio...

RedBaron's Check-in

Hi, folks! I just finished my first week of Nosing and Shovelgloving, and I thought I'd introduce myself and report my SUCCESSes. I actually started on Sunday (I was that excited by these ideas), but Thursday was a friend's birthday, so I've had 5 N-days with no problems. I found out about shovelglo...
