While Nicest's advice is sound, I would like to urge you to always consider variety. Meals of several different things (in smaller servings, obviously) are more satisfying, I find. I have always suffered from what I call "compulsive and " It means that I find myself saying i'll just have a sandwich,...

Re: NEW a college student!

Walk an hour a day (not all at once, necessarily). I think walking is the best weight loss exercise, and, as a student, should fit in well with your life style. Go easy on alcohol on S days. Find a physical activity that you enjoy (yoga, dance, etc.) so you'll have something to do for the rest of yo...

10K isn't much. When I'm walking a lot, I walk 21K in a day. LOL! at your 10,000 steps comment! I too, think that is a load of whatsit. After all, if my pedometer was to be believed, most days i actually do an average of 11,5 - 12 k steps ... hasn't made a bit of difference to my weight, i.e. i stil...

Stress, over-thinking, and maybe worrying about a whole week instead of the time between two meals? I try not to think about "five days." Rather, I think about now, getting to the next meal on tough days, and then try to think about *anything* else. :) HORRIBLE eating day today! First time since I r...

A lot of body builder types will tell you that the best exercise for getting ripped - in addition to weight training of course, which is was SG is - is walking. Not running or jogging, but walking. Go figure. I think Reinhard mentioned that he does some bodyweight training (pushups, etc.) too. Reinh...

Re: 290 lbs.

Winter busted up my efforts, too. Good luck! Well weighed myself for first time in a few months. Im not a Scale and BMI kind of guy. But at 290 pounds something defenitley needs to be done. I think the idea of S days is to give yourself a little leeway, so you can have that sweet you've been craving, or a second serving of something really good, or a couple of pretzels for a snack if you've been doing housework. Plan desert for a meal or two (or three) and there's your sweets. Have a s...

One way I trimmed my pre-meal snacking is by putting the smallest quantity of the snack that I could in my mouth (one corn chip, one bitty pretzel), eating it slowly, and waiting until its flavor (salt, mostly) entirely cleared before I ate another. You guys will get the hang of it. It just takes a ...

Idle hands are the devil's playthings.

Seriously, after dinner, find something interesting to do. It'll make not eating much easier.

This will pass in a while. I never eat after dinner anymore, not even on S days. I sleep so much better on an empty stomach.
