Leafygreens, hi! Nice to see you. Thanks for the response. It does taste pretty bitter, but I've gotten into tea, so to me it doesn't taste much different than that. NO S guidelines are to curb eating sweets, not sugar. You do not have to check sugar content of every food. Just ask "is it a dessert or not?" If yes, don't eat it. If not, eat it. Peanut butter is not a dessert, therefore ok at all meals.

Most of the books about French eating habits go hand-in-hand with No S.

Also American Women Didn't Get Fat in the 1950s e-book is really good.

One time I tried to do Lent, even though I'm not Catholic, to give up sweets. It didn't work out too well. No S and all the support systems for no snacking didn't exist back then.

1. I snack All. The. Time! I knew I had a problem with snacking. I work from home and all day yesterday I found myself in the kitchen prowling. I normally snack on 'good' food, so I had told myself it didn't count. But handfuls of raw nuts, fruit, crackers and hummus etc every hour or so has got to...

I understand that anything sweet can be a "gateway" for some bingers, although I'm trying to break myself of that mentality. I don't want to feel like if I accidentally ingest something sweet, I'm doomed for a binge. I think there is a happy medium between being strict and being "all or nothing."

Sister H - No S is so different from all the other diets, where you are made to feel guilty for eating regular foods. It can take some time to adjust. If you keep your portion sizes to one plate, three times a day, there is no need for guilt.

American Women Didn't Get Fat in the 1950s

I have read this Kindle book by Averyl Hill and highly recommend it. Her theory that the reason women were thinner in the 1950s is because they cooked and ate real food, and didn't live in a fat-acceptance culture (politically correct.) She goes through the old medical charts and studies and compare...
