Hey, I just found my way back here today, too. Great for both of us and it sure is a blessing to have the husband on board. Last time I did No S it was just me. This time my husband has joined and that makes it easier, I think. Anyhoo, I'm glad you're back and I'm glad I'm back, too! Enjoy your pota...

Hello! It has been such a long time since I last here. I did a fabulous job last time and got to my goal weight and was happy there a long time. I'm not sure what happened but . . . well, something happened. I'm back to establish good habits again. My goals for July: No S with the wholesome mod, if ...

Ha! I had to google butter dumplings. I make those but not for potato soup. I just didnt' know they were called butter dumplings. We are veggies around here and so, as you might guess, don't eat chicken. We do occasionally greatly desire a pot of chicken and dumplings, however. I put on a pot of Not...

I also put on the plate a remekind of hm onion and yogurt dip, crackers, those gorgeous bright green olives from WF, a wedge of ...

I would post this on the thread you started but it has gotten so long and I really wanted you to get this info . . . just in case you're interested. I have those pesky cysts, as well. My dr. did recommend some medication but I didnt' want to try that. In lieu of that, she said for me to google pcos ...

[ At the same time, though, Bittman's book does offer a lot of creative variations (I think, for instance, he's got a basic falafel recipe and then 3 or 4 different options). Also, I love his lists--like, 20 ways to top a baked potato or 15 grain salad ideas. He's just great! Indeed, this is my fav...

google for Bento or Obento. Traditionally, they're lunches made for Japanese husbands to take to work but it seems to have certainly branched off from there! My husband isnt' interested by my girl certainly is. Here is a link to the cutest, I think. Only someone with small children will want to make...

Arg, for my soup, I do put it in a bowl and put it on a plate. I dont for porridge but that's b/c when I have porridge, I don't have anything else, usually. I don't use a large bowl, though. I use a bowl that is oh, it holds about a cup, maybe more. Sometimes I actually use a matching coffee cup. I ...

I have his How to Cook Everything Vegetarian cookbook and use it often. I like his approach: down-to-earth, everyday cooking. Sometimes I want something more exciting but that's a great one for everyday and for learning to use unfamiliar foods. I also like his idea . . . not original with him, I'm s...

I like the idea of a thank-you note, too. Speaking of notes...there's a teacher at a school here who sends notes to all of his students (past and present) every year on their birthday. Anyone want to help with a recurring quandary?

I teach a writing class for a group of kids around the 11-13 age range. All the kids are great but one girl in particular is a really sweet kid. She loves to bake and creates her own recipes. Last week she brought something quite delicious and when all the moms begged for the recipe she couldn't giv...

What's on your menu this week?

It's a new week and I'll go grocery shopping tonight (though I should have done it Saturday).

Inspire me with your fabulous, frugal, dElicious menu for the week. Or even you plain old not very exciting menu.

I'd tell you mine but it isn't planned yet.

I'll just say that I think that starting on Friday is already an enormous success! Great going with that! I'm a "Great idea! I'll start Monday . . . or the first of next month . . . or January 1st is just 4 months away!" kind of person.

Well Done!

Yes, it counts in the plate. For me, b/c I want the healthy foods and b/c I want to lose weight -- and am losing weight -- filling my plates with gorgeous, healthy, vibrant foods is doing it. I build a plate with a protein, a fruit and/or veg, and fill in the gaps. One thing that is very important i...

Dinner prep is hard for me, too.

It really does help me if I have plenty of variety and protein at lunch for a more satisfying, longer lasting fullness. After that, it's tea, maybe milk, and sometimes I brush my teeth (b/c then it doesnt' tast as well).
