Hi Kathleen, I have followed your posts for a few months now, and I sympathize with your ongoing struggle to figure out a "magic plan" that works for you. I was just wondering if you had read through any blogs or articles dealing with the rising "fat acceptance" movement. I know how 'fat acceptance'...

Maybe your body is leveling off. I remember reading Geneen Roth's book (Woman, God, and Food---the intuitive eating one), and she initially gained 15 lbs when she stopped dieting and started IE. Maybe that's what is happening with you. Maybe your body/metabolism is leveling off from years of yo-yoin...

While I understand your frustration, and in no place can I tell you what to do or how to handle this, but to me, it seems like you're setting yourself up for a fall again.....a binge. Here are two good DVDs that focus on pilates/yoga techniques but still get your heartrate up: 1) Jillian Michaels Yoga (she focuses on yoga moves--but incorporates reps---I'm always sweating by the end- 30 min- 2 workouts) 2) Kristen McGee- Pilates for Weight Loss (great Pilates moves with a couple ...

Hi gettheweightoff and gk, I saw your convo about exercise, and I too deal with many of the same things you guys brought up. I have to be at work by 7:15am every morning and use to get up at 4:00 am to get an hour- hour and a half workout in every morning. That lasted....oh....for maybe 6-8 months b...

I totally understand the whole "what society says is beautiful" issue as well. Have you ever seen the movie Couples Retreat? There is a scene on the beach where all four couples have to strip down to their undies/bras....and guess what? The men were all fat...pot bellies...or average looking.....but...

Hi there, I just wanted to let you know that you and I are the EXACT same person. Literally, I could write your posts for you. I could go on and on about my own personal struggles, but I will never forget the day I would not let myself have a drink of water because I had to be a certain weight in th...

Ok thanks everyone. I figured it would be alright---there are just so many "sources" that claim eating late at night is so bad for you, how dare you not eat a hearty breakfast by 8:00am every day, etc., etc.....

If it works for me, I'll stick to it.

Question about tweaking the 3 meals a day component

I know I should eat breakfast, but I am NOT a breakfast eater. Even when I go to bed a bit hungry at night, I don't wake up hungry and usually can go for 3-4 hours before eating. The only thing I like in the morning is my coffee. I usually drink about two cups (appx 15 ounces) with a couple spoonful...

Just need your insightful input :)

Okay--I started a calorie-counting diet in January 2008 (1500 per day) with a solid exercise program (5 days per week) and lost 50 lbs. For the last two years, I went deeper and deeper into the dark place of eating disorders (have struggled with eating/appearance/body image since I was 9 and my mom ...

Again, thank you everyone for your responses. I think what's so difficult about the calories for me, is that when I'm "counting calories", that's ALL I think about: measuring, counting, adding, etc. I lost the 50 lbs throughcounting calories and watching the calories burned on my heart monitor throu...

Thank you again for all your responses.....and as "brightangel" said (and me being a somewhat experienced calorie counter)...those food EASILY add up to at least 2000 calories. And as "brightangel" demonstrated, can be much more so--depending on what and how much. I think I'm going to have to add in...

Thank you so much for you response. I know that I need to give this more time....much more than a week! I also think (and have been told by numerous people) that I'm going to gain when I start a sensible eating plan because of all the trauma I've put my metabolism through over the last 15 years of m...

Question about daily calorie amounts...and I gained 3 lbs :(

I discovered No-S about a month ago. I have read the book and read through the website and posts. I absolutely love the idea and decided to give it a try. I have only been doing it for one week, but I decided to add up my calories each day to sort of see how much I was taking in with the 3 meals a d...

Thank you all for your advice and suggestions. We had a talk and he is fine with me walking---as long as it's during the day (no early early morning or late at night), as long as I have someone with me (my kids, a friend, etc.), and as long as I have my cell phone. I thought these were reasonable an...

Thank you all for your responses. I know that he is overly worried about certain things....the whole "don't go walking/running" is one of them. I'm going to talk to him and try to work it out. I've been working out like a fiend at the gym for the past two years, and I'm quite burned out....so much s...

You are right! He is a very insecure person. Last year, when I wanted to join a gym, it had to be a womens-only gym. Sheesh... I think he watches the news and sees various stories about women being abducted and raped/killed as they were on their morning jog or something...and then he thinks if he ca...

My husband won't let me walk anywhere!!

I am new here and also posted this in the Urban Ranger forum. I am loving the idea of No-S and Shovelglove/Urban Ranger, but how do I handle a husband (married 9 years with 3 kids) that doesn't want me walking anywhere for fear of "weirdos" out there? I would love to walk to our local shopping mall ...

My husband won't let me walk anywhere!

I am new to this forum, but loving the idea of No-S and Shovelglove/Urban Ranger. The problem is....I would LOVE to walk to the store, around the neighborhood, etc,. but my husband is so freaked out about "weirdos" out there, that he makes me drive. And unfortunately, I have been unsuccessful at get...
