So glad your mum's better now, KCCC. They are old, so this is time to treasure. It is very rare when you KNOW you are exactly where you need to be. For the last two days, I did. So true. Mine are in their late seventies now, and although they are quite healthy for their age, I try to see them as muc...

Shovelling without the glove

Been thinking about starting SG, and wanted to "test-drive" it before committing and buying yet another piece of junk exercise equipment.  So, I decided to call the spade a shovel and tackled my compost heap. Now, I'm a dedicated greenish gardener, so there's lots of compost to be turned....

Flourescent-colored highly sweetened yogurt in a tube. So you don't need a spoon, two hands, or any working sensory equipment to eat it. At first I thought that "tube" was a typo or something. Debs, such good news! What I love most about walking is that every day and every walk is a new experience. You might follow the same route every walk, but the environment (and the walker) are never the same two walks in a row. So, go out & enjoy. And it's spring, your side of the world - even more t...

Hoeka in 2011

It's been a while ... I joined last year, and had a pretty good run No-S wise, some exercise hicccups, some bad glass ceiling days, then went home to spend Christmas with my family and well, life just happened, I guess. My starting weight last year was 80 kg, and at 1,58 m, that’s waaaaay too much...

I don't own a scale, but go to the pharmacy once a month to be weighed. I think that if I weighed myself every day, or even weekly, I'd focus on the short term results, and, as other posters have remarked, it's so easy then to then act impulsively based on what the scale said. Somebody here posted a...

Reinhard, have you considered the alphabet diet, as followed by a character in one of Marion Keyes' books (I think)?
Day 1 would be apples, artichokes, asparagus
Day 26 would be zucchini.
(This is one diet where being being bi-/multilingual would be a bonus)

I saw it too, KCCC and was quite inpsired by the idea. Another approach I've seen is "word of the month", where the particular word is...
