My oldest lived in Western France her 10th grade HS year and Face Timed with one of my daughters at home to show her host family our house in the US. When they were in the kitchen, her host mother asked what "that" room was and my daughter said it's the pantry. After explaining how we use a pantry, ...

Reinhard, you make a great point about how far removed we are from "normal" eating patterns. Spring break last year we visited our daughter who was studying abroad in Paris and the biggest thing to me was how you "owned" your table at a restaurant. Once you were seated, you actually ate at an enjoya...

I like reading how former "evil foods" like whole milk and red meat are now deemed healthy by 60%+ of nutritionists, but this number would be 20% or lower if this poll were conducted 20 years ago. Perhaps they should no longer be called nutritionists, but food faddists since this really seems to be ...

I spent a week in Paris a few weeks ago visiting my daughter who's studying there and it was striking to me just how thin people are compared to the US. It was the same in Belgium and Amsterdam. I don't have any statistics, but it was obvious based on the eyeball method! What was even more shocking ...

Thanks. I do 10 movements, but squat when I do the bale hay because I think that's what I would do if I really were bailing hay. I do 36 reps on each side with a 16lbs hammer and 32 with a 20lbser though I use 15 minutes as my cut off. I'll finish with pushups and after work one max set of pullups. ...

Shovelglove works overtime if you can stick with it. I'm 51 and people ask if I lift weights when all I do is SG plus some pushups and pullups. I alternate between the 16 and 20 pounders. 15 minutes or less a day is so beneficial yet this is in such contrast to the "must move one hour/day" mantra we...

Now that I've been walking for a while, colleagues who have seen me in the parking deck on more than one occasion asked if I'm actually walking the parking deck. When I tell them I am, they remark that it's something they should do too. I don't mind if the entire building does this, as long as I can...

Weight Loss
This is an excellent (in my opinion) testimonial of sorts from a writer who lost 125 lbs in 2015. What's interesting is how he had to take it one day at at time, yet he developed a habit that should last a lifetime similar to NoS. https://medium.com/@billbarnwell/the-easiest-way-to-lose-125-pounds-i...

11 Minutes
Not sure exactly where this belongs, but it's a link to an 11 minute Royal Canadian Air Force exercise routine that fits right in to the moderation theme. This may have been posted years ago, but I don't remember. My college roommate's dad did this routine almost every day as long as he could rememb...

Thanks for the complement, but I'm in decent shape. I rowed crew in college so my pain threshold is fairly high. It takes me 15 minutes or less depending on the day. Some of the movements are very fast while others are a little slower. To do more work, if I finish a movement with my right arm I'll s...

I continue to rotate through the 16 and 20 lber depending on how I feel that morning. I thought about the amount of weight I'm moving with the 16 pounder and it's actually quite a bit. It's over 11,800 lbs which doesn't take into account the force behind each motion. I imagine in 14 minutes I'm doin...

20 lbs
I just moved to the 20lber from the 16lber this week. I was doing 740 reps (movements) in under 14 minutes with the 16 and today it took me over 14 minutes to complete 680 reps. It was the right time to move up, but I imagine I'll be at this weight for good.

Hammer Weight
I've been using the 16 lbs hammer for quite a while, 5x/wk ~15-17 minutes each session. I vary the number of sets and reps (e.g., 21-14-7, 25-15, 13-13-13, etc.) using 10 different exercises. I'm curious as to when others moved up to a higher hammer. Were you consistently finishing your workout belo...
