I eat 4 small meals everyday. I tried and tried eating 3 meals but had a really hard time. I started this after reading about a woman who ate 4 small/half meals a day and lost over 40 pounds. I have lost 20 pounds doing this. But I eat like this everyday even on weekends. And I eat exactly what I wa...

I too am interested in the health benefits of intermittent fasting and have tried to do 16/8 but found it difficult to maintain. Martin Berkhan of Leangains.com now recommends a 14 hour fasted phase for his female clients. He calls it the "sweet spot" for women. This is something I can easily do, so...

I would say, if you are full then the meal is over. No saving to eat within an hour. This has happened to me many times. in fact it happened last night. I made a regular bowl of tortilla soup (it was a hearty soup) and I couldn't eat it all. So, that was it. I didn't save it to finish it off 30 minu...

And, in Reinhard's book he says "The basic case for strictness is that it builds habit faster. If you are strict, your appetites learn quickly that it's not worth test the boundaries all the time." and "...strictness makes it easier. It's being lenient that's hard" and "the most important time for s...

Your post was encouraging to me. This has always been a problem for me. Strict one day. Lenient the next day or two. Strict the next. I like the 16:8 fast. It took my body a little while to get used to it. I would go from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 pm. Intermittent fasting has many health benefits.

Hunger

I used to think that I could never go 5-6 hours between meals. But I started doing Eat Stop Eat a while back (not doing it currently), and I would go 24 hours without eating 2 times a week. I could go 24 hours but not 6 hours? I now know that I can easily manage the hunger between meals. The greater...

Set times for eating

Does everyone have set times for eating? Does anyone ever eat just 3 meals a day but not necessarily breakfast, lunch, dinner. Maybe brunch and then two other meals later on. Maybe you sleep in, have a meal and then the other two later on. I guess what I am asking does anyone go by plates a day inst...

Counting bites is easier than calories, and I have thought less and obsessed less with counting bites, than I did when I would wait until hungry to eat. I can understand why having days when one can have desserts. But I wonder, if we are breaking snacking and seconds habits whether we are better off maintaining a firm comittiment to no eating between meals and no seconds. Desserts on weekends and at special events is a sound exception. Curious what...

Or close to Lunch, say 11:00 a.m. Then have their second meal at mid afternoon and then their last meal sometime in the evening? If so, just wondering how this worked out for you. The thing that has been most surprising is that eating this way is almost a relief.
