KCCC - your "inner journal" sounds so like mine, down to the nick-names for those other "Its" that actually control our mechanical actions! (Have you read Dr. Maurice Nicoll?)

Wosnes, thank you for posting the article. Reinhard's "Way" also contains wisdom from many different sources, I think.

I've never measured my plate, but it's beautiful ! One of the things I remember Reinhard mentioning, when I first discovered this site, was how meals used to be a family ritual. In the last few years I had developed a very unhelpful way of eating - at the counter, or on the run, so one day in my fir...

Annie, Like KCCC I find a sense of relief come Monday. Perhaps it's the lack of having to make decisions, because they've already been made for N days. I, too, wasn't able to vote in the poll. Odd - when I went back to the topic just now the poll showed in a different format, and I was able to vote.

Annie, I'm well over forty and enjoying this free ride! I don't use the daily check-in page but you can read about my experience - so far - in the post titled "three x twenty-one =minus ten." I'm thinking I should write down my Christmas eating observations before I forget the lessons learned! Maybe...

Reinhard, at the risk of sounding Grinch-like, I'd advise avoiding gimmicks. Please don't make this just-another-diet book. No S is so straightforward and simple that I would hope the book reflects that. If you do decide to add food ideas, how about samples of our profitable plates-du-jour! I wish y...

I brought my own post back up because I want to retain the feeling of belonging to this valiant group in spite of not doing a daily check-in. I'm still on this happy road; still on schedule with regard to my original intent - twenty pounds in twenty weeks - and now I'm at what I think is my basic se...

silverfish, although we're upside down, according to geography, your spirit is definitely right side up! I liked the way you expressed both your acceptance of your status quo and your optimism. Your words had the happy effect of reflecting, and thereby doubling, my own pleasure in the way things are.

I resurected this posting because I wanted to share some more good feelings! Today, as I was returning my empty coffee cup to the kitchen, I paused at the fridge and thought: "...now what shall I have this morning, Fabulous Fruit and Fibre?, Terrific Tortilla?, or Poached egg on Pumpernickel?" The p...

three x twenty-one = minus ten!

Almost at the end of my tenth week, and on target! And joyful, and wanting to thank all of you who check in here for inspiring me. After my first twenty-one days It was obvious I was losing just a pound a week - not fast enough for me until I realized that dropping a pound each week would mean that ...

Toro, your expectation echos my own. At first I was a little disappointed with only losing about a pound per week, but then I realized that this isn't really a diet ; for me it's more of a restructuring - I used to eat reasonable amounts, but then snacked from supper to bed-time! Like you I was conc...

wosnes, I like to weigh myself but, because I know how it fluctuates from day to day, I've been keeping a daily record and averaging my weekly weight. Now, in my sixth week, I can see the big picture - I've been losing just over a pound a week. That might not sound like much but, I'm loving what my ...

momma, when I'm wondering if what I'm thinking of eating is legitimate, I've been using the criterion, "when in doubt - don't."

Incidently, I think you have the wrong word for reinhard, smug he certainly isn't! How about compassionate guru - mentor - shepherd?

Hello BenJ, fellow pilgrim, your previous habits mirrored mine, especially the nighttime perma-graze. I'd like to echo Reinhard's quotation, which in a simpler form I have been using as my m.o. "Act as if."

I'm trying to eat as I will when I get to be the shape I want to be!

Thank you Reinhard for your re-enforcement, which came just at the right time for me. I'm thinking that this way of eating seems more like riding with a soft rein than a hard one! In any case, it's turning out to be an interesting ride.

Namaste, Rosemary.

Seeking advice regarding my first S-days.

I started on Monday, and this is my fourth successful N-day. I feel very motivated, and jubilant that I haven't been snacking in the evenings - formerly my nemesis. My question: how do I make sure that S-days don't diminish my motivation? I'm a bit worried that indulging in carbs might re-activate m...
