Back from "down under"

I stuck with NOS the entire 10 day trip to Australia. I found it was very easy to skip all of the snacks the locals like to have during "tea time"
Success.
UR - 92 miles in 10 days - major success.

Wednesday workout - Full Speed Ahead !!!!

I thought I would challenge myself this morning for my mid-week workout. I upped my reps on almost everything and couldn't finish before 14 minutes so I worked on speed and quickly changing from one movement to the next. Here it is. Left side then Right side. 10 pound hammer. Reps Exercise 25 Regula...

Crank it up - you will feel it

Day 3 of shugging is now complete. I'm really liking this so far. It seems to be a pretty good workout, except for my abs. Am I supposed to be feeling it there, too? Just do more in the 14 minutes and you will feel it. I like to really twist around and feel like I am really doing hard manual labor....

I thought it was an unwritten rule that you had to be in some type of sleepware (birthday suit counts) - PJ's at the absolute max :D

Anyone else shovelglove in the "Nude"??

No - not me the hammer :D The first time I tried shovelglove my cat just went nuts and attached himself to the old sweatshirt I was using as a "glove". So I just removed it and carried on - the cat lost interest. I find that I REALLY pay attention to form and sweaty hands when I can see that naked h...

Re: Twist motion

Hello, I feel like I read on my initial few visits to this site, that twisting the torso with a shovelglove is a bad thing. Is this true or my imagination? Should I stop the motion short of the twist? Will the soreness go away? Will I stop feeling self conscious about swinging a sledgehammer around...

21 days for me - Edited

Actually 22 days. Both NOS and shovelglove. :D Steve Edit. I read the whole 8 pages of this tread last night and realized I should say a little more than "I made it". This is a big deal - I have never ever stuck with any diet or exercise program this long. NOS is second nature now - pure habit. When...

Still going strong

Starting the 4th week now. Over the weekend I slipped into my old habit on not eating breakfast. Still had no snacks and ate pretty well for the other 2 meals. Monday was a success. My back is still tender, did my 14 minutes of hammer time because I need to - it's a habit now. Tuesday is going good ...

Thanks for the responses. I agree with you regarding the starchy foods and I also agree with the protein staving off hunger better than starch. The question though was, if it is an N day and the crash comes for whatever reason, what do you do to make it to the next meal (presuming of course giving ...

Afternoon crash and hunger.

Today I walked to grocery store (pushing the baby stroller) and picked up some food including 2 nice deli sandwiches for my wife and I for lunch. Got home ate mine and I was stuffed. 3 hours later - crash - tired and hungry, and I bet that sandwich was nearly 1000 calories. I definately won't be doi...

Some tips

I'm new here (20 days now) but something I have noticed reading posts in the check-in section is that people who eat lots of starchy foods and very little fat seem to have the hunger issue more than others. For myself I found that if I just replace the starchy foods with fruits and vegies (I'll add ...

It's Parallel

I keep the hammer parallel with my forearm. I just have the end of the handle resting against my elbow so my wrist is not supporting the "levering force" of the hammer.

3 weeks now!

I've been at this for 3 full weeks now. Have not missed one N day. I took it easy today because I tweaked my back picking up my baby :o . Today started out bad but turned into a SUCCESS!!! . I like to shug in the morning when it's nice and quiet. For me music would wreck the whole thing.
I like music in the evening as a relaxing time.

welcome to shovelglove. Regarding knees, hindu squats are your friend.... I still do these now and then. My knees really snap, crackle and pop during the first 20 or so. New guy checking in

I am starting my 2nd week Monday morning. I really enjoy shovelgloving - something about it just "works" for me (it might be the need to concentrate on not hitting my self with a slegde hammer.) I am using a 10 pounder to start with, I'm 6'0" and a soft 200 pounds. I hope to get back to 175 over the...
