Day #44 failure..a permasnacking blitz once again associated with unsatisfying meals. I'm seeing a pattern here--if my meal is not tasty and satisfying, I feel an urge to make up for it with multiple snacks. I'm also noticing that it is harder to comply on Thursdays and Fridays. My strategy for deal...

uR: A late night stroll. Before cold makes this a silly idea. 1:11 You're doing great. My hat is off to you. Re: night walking--think outside the box! I walk outdoors in the evening all winter long-bundle up in ski pants, hat and mittens, strap on a headlamp, and head outside. I love snowshoing whe...

Thanks, squarepants person! 9 pounds doesn't seem like very much weight until you put it that way. #40 success (s-day) no exercise #41 success (no-s day) no exercise. I had a real moment of weakness yesterday. I was SO HUNGRY...and a little bored...dinner wasn't due for several hours. I almost broke...

OK, Shell, it took me a while to get the courage to respond to this topic. I hope I don't sound like a jerk, because I'm not. What follows is written in a spirit of kindness and honesty. Just to present the other side of the controversy: http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/aspartame.asp I personally drink 4 ounces of diet Pepsi a day. We have those little cans at work, and one is enough. I really think none would be better, because there certainly is no redeeming value to the stuff...

Thanks, p-sue. I have tried several "diets" and have repeatedly succumbed to the all-or-nothing theory of success. I'm working on not reverting to such self-defeating behavior and thoughts. Day #34 success (S-day) Despite a large amount of junk food remaining in the house from Saturday's party, I di...

panglesue, Could you find certain low calorie foods that pack a lot of satisfaction? For me, for instance, totally fresh green beans with a tiny bit of butter and salt/pepper, perfectly steamed, taste SO good. You can eat a huge mound of them without doing a lot of damage on the calorie front. Maybe...

"Not right now."
Has anyone seen the TV show "The Biggest Loser"? I watched it a couple of days ago. 50 obese people, one from each state, were brought to this beautiful ranch spa in California. Two athletic trainers each chose 7 people from the initial 50 to form their teams. I was really sad for the remaining 36.....

Hi, Mom3--welcome! My way of dealing with fits and starts on the weight is to weigh only once a month. I am finding myself counting down to October 1. I (haven't we all?) have had so many experiences where I thought I was doing really well with good food choices, exercise, etc. but the scale said no...

I have Merrill chameleons with GoreTex. They are nice but a little stiff-I've only had them a few months and they aren't broken in. The sole is so firm and stiff--I don't think they will ever feel like my last pair. My last pair of low-top hiking shoes were also Merrills, similar style without GoreT...

Day #28-I guess I'll call this not-total-success. At lunch, I had a hamburger happy meal. DS didn't finish his double cheeseburger, so I chowed down on the remainder so "it wouldn't go to waste". Then, operating under the same concept, I ate the rest of his fries. Totally unnecessary-I was already f...

26-S day (success, of course) I didn't snack all day--I seem to be out of the habit. YEAH!!! I bought myself a bag of M&M's at DS's football game, ate 3-4, but they were too sweet so I gave them to my husband (who sadly, doesn't need them either). Amazing. Had a divine evening meal with a perfectly ...

Christi, could it be that you are really afraid of allowing yourself to feel hungry? I think that has been part of my problem for several years. Somehow I got a hold of the idea that if I'm feeling hungry, no matter what, I MUST EAT or something really, really bad will happen. I've experienced that...

Benjumanji's check-in thread
Hey, y'all. I decided to join in the check-in fun...accountability and all that. I got through the first 21 days without too much difficulty...a few hungry moments, but mostly just astounded that I don't melt into a puddle if I don't eat every 3 hours. I can't believe I walked around all these years...

Greetings and salutations
I've been following the No-S plan for about two weeks now. I ran across a reference to it in another online forum, and after reading through this website I decided this plan is just what I need I tried "diets" and failed due to lack of attention to detail. Trying to write down every bite that enters...
