Re: Food Pushers

Agreed! I can't stand having food pushed on me. I find it very curious that the food pushers in my life are also hyper-critical of people who are overweight, even if they are overweight themselves. Self-hatred? Crabs in a bucket? IDK.

Re: Interesting Article

"I am fond of saying that I carry a perfectly adequate snack shop right on my body, spread over arms, waist, hips and thighs. I've got a long way to go before any danger of exhausting it!"

That made me laugh out loud! "I am my own vending machine."

Interesting Article

https://www.refinery29.com/en-gb/healthy-snacks-unhealthy-lifestyle "The celebration of snackification, healthy or not, obscures the fact that we are now sustaining ourselves in bitesize, individual moments instead of shared, bigger meals." The impact of snacking on weight wasn't a feature of the ar...

Re: Another reason to eat moderately. . .

No S dieters have the good sense not to starve themselves until they faint from hunger! On another message board I follow, one Whole 30 person was bragging about fasting for five days. Seriously? That's the ticket to health?

This absolutely happens. I find that after eating too much sugary, salty, refined food I not only feel terrible but I can't focus and think straight.

Cannabis is used to help people regain their appetite in the case of chemotherapy and wasting diseases. I doubt it would be helpful for weight loss when it's used to help people keep weight on.

This is a little off-topic, but it reminded me of a pet peeve I have about Facebook (in addition to people hawking supplements) - the promotion of useless if not downright dangerous diet and health advice. Another pet peeve of mine is using Facebook to bully people suffering from illness; for exampl...

Or glass of chocolate Milk. you can feel the nutrients going right to tired muscles like an IV, lol. I read an excellent book recently, "The First 20 Minutes" (so titled because you get the most benefit from the first 20 minutes of exercise). It recommended chocolate milk as a post-workout recovery...

I've noticed that advertisers are great at sending false signals - such as ultra-thin models slamming down 1,500 calorie fast-food meals (implying that the "beautiful people" eat that stuff and stay thin so you can too). Not food related, but as a woman "of a certain age" it really annoys me when ad...

I'll join you. I'm tired of gaining and losing the same 15 pounds over and over again, and I want to make peace with food. Agreed! There's truly hungry, as in feeling hunger pangs, and then there's "I'm tired and I need sugar to pick me up" hungry, "I'm stressed out and I need comfort food" hungry, etc. etc. "Jonesing" is a great term to describe cravings. I also like "hangry" - so hungry that one's blood sugar is low, ...

Interesting Series from PBS

Hi All! I don't know if this series, "Eating Psychology with Betty," is broadcast on PBS nationwide. I've found it very interesting. I watched Episode 102 today, which deals with eating triggers. It explained a lot!

I've battled eating disorders since middle school (fortunately, not horribly serious). However, I've reached the age where my metabolism is no longer bailing me out and my binges o...

I've tried Artic Zero - it's as expensive as super-premium ice cream and quite tasteless. I'd rather have a small scoop of the real thing and abandon "our national sense of gluttony!"
