Wow, this thread has brought back memories! I had tons of VHS workout tapes - the ones I remember the most are Jane Fonda, Cher and this weird step tape where the participants were all serious and hard-core - they looked as if they were going off to war instead of doing a step class. Oh, and I had a...

Thanks everyone! I've tried the method of having a little bit each day but that doesn't work for me. Right now I'm back to vanilla No S and so far (Friday and today) it's working great! The candy bowl is still in the kitchen, though all that's left are the 3 Musketeers - I guess they're not that pop...

Restarted No S the day after Halloween - not doing well

I've always had a problem with sweets, since I was a kid. Once I start, it's hard for me to stop until I feel sick. At home, I deal with it by buying only single servings of cookies or candy, and not very often. But at work, it's awful. Of course everyone and her uncle has been bringing in Halloween...

Great, great thread. I found out about No S a few years ago and thought its utter simplicity meant it would be easy. No - as has been said many times on this site, No S is simple but not always easy. I failed a lot at No S throughout the years, but I think I've finally turned a corner. I love the fe...

Welcome back KCCC! I am delighted to see you back here. Your phases of NoS are unbeatable advice. Your and Oolala's posts have saved my days from becoming red days more often than you'll ever know. Ditto! I am back to No S after yet another detour into Diet Land (WW yet again - when will I learn) a...

This is a big issue for me. A couple days ago someone put a bunch of homemade muffins in the kitchen. I had just restarted No S and actually had no problems ignoring them (though I have to avert my eyes because the water cooler is in there too). If they had been there a couple of weeks ago, I defini...

Great thread. I tried The Fast Diet a few months ago. I lost a few pounds in the first two weeks but after the third week, I gained everything back and freaked myself out, worrying I was screwing up my metabolism, so I stopped. I had been thinking of going back to No S again because it's the only th...

I'm back too. And conveniently I started today (a Friday). I had to laugh when I read your post.

S Events

I agree re S events - this month I have two weekday holiday parties and instead of vowing not to eat any sweets at these things (a vow I'd probably break) I'm just going to declare them s-events. If I made those days S Days, I'd be too afraid of pigging out all day long. Confining any excess to just...

Pangelsue, I'm with you (it rhymes!). I just can't be trusted around stuff like cookies. Last year I baked some for a Cookie Swap and I totally regretted it, both baking and attending. I'm a total cookie monster so being around a huge variety of awesome cookies really did me in. I felt ill afterward...

I don't know anyone who has lost weight using "intuitive eating." I bought a book about it and practically threw it across the room because I knew there was no way it would work for me -- way too vague. I need some structure. If I only ate when I was hungry, I sure as hell wouldn't have a weight pro...

Great thread. I'm one of those who gave up on No S because of out-of-control S days, and I have a feeling there are a lot of us. I can totally relate to the whole "eating junk because I can" mindset. However, I'm definitely considering returning to No S because it makes sense to me and because nothi...

Restarted 7/25 and had all green days until yesterday. I bought a box of granola bars (oats and dark chocolate - yum). I told myself I wouldn't open the box until today (S day). Ha! I not only opened the box yesterday - I ate most of the bars until I got so disgusted, I threw four of them away befor...

I re-started on July 25. I first tried No S two years ago and got discouraged because although I was losing, it was slow. Now I know that I still had Diet Head and I soon succumbed to yet another fad diet (17-Day Diet anyone?). I lost quickly on that one (of course - it's low carb) and then regained...
