Another thought is to abandon the scale and track measurements instead, particularly waist measurements. I'm thinking of trying the running average method you guys mentioned because I've been weighing more than I said I would - every couple days....just can't seem to wait until the weekly weigh-in! ...

Thank you for posting this. Really made sense to me and helped me to understand more. I have long suspected that many of these myths had little basis in true, research-verified fact.
