Blithe Morning, oolala: Did not mean to be offensive, so if so, please forgive me. I am French, so I may not have a reliable point of comparison with United States. When I went too US, I was to young to care about these problems. (obesity and such, although I was very overweight for a French person)...

Glad you liked my country :) From Normandie to Monaco. Boy, that's quite a trip. (Well, OK, it's not Maine to California, but still...)

I love it here too. I too would like to go back to US someday. (I liked Pennsylvania when I was there. Lots of woods.)

Re: French eat nos?

I just came from a month vacation in France. Noting that overall French are slimmer than Americans - although I did see some fat (not obese) French - Ii asked a few what they ate. This is more or less a general description: Breakfast - an expresso coffee This is true. Although most French people st...

They don't have bread or potato at dinner? I thought bread was a staple. I always heard about the bakeries where the people get it fresh for meals. According to the sources I've read, bread is a staple at every meal -- and the children's afternoon snack. Indeed. It's on the table. Just like salt an...

Re: Two Books

Druckerman mentions that bonbons can be purchased at nearly every bakery. A friend of hers will occasionally let her child pick out a bonbon when they go to the bakery in the morning, but the child has to wait until the goûter to eat it. When at the grocery, her own children will point to cookies ...

SUCCESS on Friday, although I had to use the Cinderella trick (Waiting for midnight to eat some chocolate)

Lots of chocolate during the weekend, with 3 small meals a day. I feel a bit worse than last weekend. Next weekend will be better.

I'm now headed for a fourth week of green!

I have an idea : you need two bricks, a pair of old knickers, cement.

Glue each knicker to a brick with cement. put the shoes on, and walk half a mile everyday.

Call this system "seven-stone boots".

I agree with the 4th meal, and the fact that you should not intentionally reduce your portions. If you wish to do so, just eat what you want to eat, by stacking everything on your plate first to make it fit.

Yes! I went, although it was only a 35-minute walk. Still, it's a green. My minimum of compliance is 30-minutes, with possible segmentation.

Now, follow no-s until the end of day, and I'll be green for three weeks, woohoo !

Exercising is a good second choice. It goes hand in hand with the diet. I think that eating moderately (not necessarily canonically healthy) and exercising are the bare minimum to have any benefit (significant weight control AND health benefits) Good luck :)

Hello guys ! I'm coming back to NoS after a year off. I have started on Monday 6/25, and up until now, I had two full-green weeks, plus yesterday. I simply decided to forge good habits again after my scales told me 91 (kg, that's precisely 200#) I'm 5'8" tall, male, 31 years old. I also, on the same...

When I went to Japan for 3 weeks and a half, I remember walking lots and lots there. It was something like 8 miles a day, especially in Kyôto. And I did not weigh myself, but when I came back to work, what one of my colleagues told me was "Wow, you SLIMMED!"

Good job on resisting. I find that you're doing extremely well, so keep up! :) Don't want to be the details' advocate, but 4 meals a day is not a mod on the diet.
