I tend to agree with KCCC. For myself, I find the "success/failure" dichotomy disheartening. I have issues with perfectionism so it's important for me to focus on 90% or even 80% success. Otherwise I will be too likely to let one small flaw in an otherwise good day serve as a "reason" to let go alto...

Protein

Part of the problem might be too little protein in that meal you described. Protein is the part that "sticks to your ribs" and helps tide you over from mealtime to mealtime. I have that same issue if I don't include fiber and protein in each meal. I like beans (black beans, pintos, kidney beans, bla...

Back on No-S

I tried No-S two years ago. It worked quite well. Then I stopped. I gained the weight back slowly over the next 18 months.

I am back on No-S again since about February and I have lost 18 pounds.

It doesn't help that 98% of all new development in the last 30 years has taken the form of oil-dependent sprawl, in which an individual automobile is a virtual necessity for living on a day-to-day basis, and walking is either impossible or so unpleasant (along major thoroughfares) as to be nearly un...

Hi Sandy -- I love what you said about "I used to do this more than one night a week". I have had plenty of slip-ups on No-S but the bottom line is the "slip-ups" nowadays are actually better than an average "normal" day before No-S! So I don't feel like I've really fallen off the wagon, and that's ...

MerryKat, that's a very interesting point, and I imagine there are lots of people in the same boat who would be helped by your observation.

It is pretty amazing how No-S is so simple and therefore its variations and iterations can be adapted easily to address particular needs.

PS, forgot to mention that adding 20-30 minutes of vigorous walking each day will also get you "results" faster. Hi Annolope, It's not part of the No-S Plan, but I did some serious calorie reduction for the first few weeks I went on No-S. Getting sufficient sleep -- helps lose weight

I saw these interesting articles on how getting enough sleep is linked to appetite and weight. Turns out sleep affects your diet/weight in at least three ways -- regulating hunger hormones, affecting glucose tolerance, and regulating endocrine function. http://wral-tvhealth.ip2m.com/index.cfm?PageTy...
