I've been there!

I have been where you are! It sounds like your kids are little, you are not close to home (no proverbial village) and your close friend and therapist is a big bowl of pasta (insert your own food friend). And you just recently broke up with your best friend. That is a lot. My kids are teens now and I...

Love your post! I wish you well and want to tag along. I have been successful with this plan. However, summer hit and now preparing teenage girls for school... One excuse and stress after another. I have not been lurking. I have been completely avoiding. Your post motivated me. Rolling up my sleeves...

I have not been at this very long. I have lost about 5 pounds so far. That is with a little detour over the holidays. However, it is a slow process as others have said. I feel more in control and healthier. The weeks where I see the scale move is when I add some exercise like wearing a pedometer and...

Pretty cold here in Ohio too. No walking the dogs for me.

I am giving advice and hoping I listen too. Ha! One day at a time. One decision at a time. I am listening to the others. It makes sense to start with fewer goals, see success and add more goals as we move along.

My husband and I often go out on date night on Friday too. I find if I am relaxed about it it is easier. I tell myself to enjoy myself and if I think a little shared dessert fits the bill then I can get it. As soon as I start the mental debate, then I NEED the dessert. It becomes obsessive and not a...

It is a snow day today. No school for the kids! I normally love these days. We hang out. I usually bake something. But there is a LOT of time to get into trouble in the kitchen. The snow will start this afternoon. We can't even go out and take a walk because it is all ice. Help!

So it has been a month. Down 5 pounds. I am happy about that. I have learned that I don't need to weigh myself every day, but I do need to do it a couple of times a week. I tend to fall into a false sense of skinny until reality hits... A photo, jeans are suddenly a bit snug, or I make the mistake a...

I'm sure many of the other posters can give you words of wisdom that will help you move forward. My thoughts regarding the slower process is to just look at my history. I have not been struggling with my weight and eating habits for only a few weeks or a few months. I have been struggling for years!...

Gotta ask "Why?"

So I am fairly new to this diet plan. I actually do see it as a new way of living rather than a diet. As I go about my day the one rule that is most challenging and enlightening is the No Snacks rule. Every time I want a snack I know I can't have it. I am forced to ask myself why I want the snack an...

On the same boat! I too am in the beginning. I do enjoy the "romance" stage of a new diet. This one is almost too simple to be fun. No points to calculate. No foods to scan and enter into my phone. I think in the area of dieting, focus is our worst enemy. The more I focus on what I can eat and what I am forbidden the more I want the forbidden. I find the No S diet allows me to focus less. Today was my first official No S day. It was not horrible. In a way, it was a relief. With as much candy and temptation we have in the house, I am certain it would have been a day of emotional warfare. However, there were no decisions to make.
