Does anyone else only drink water between meals?

I'll drink whatever I want to with a meal, which is usually fruit juice, milk or hot chocolate. But when I'm thirsty at any other time I'll just get a glass of cold water. This way I'm not consuming too many liquid calories.

It's been a few months now. I've decided that my sweets days are Wednesday, Saturday and special occasions so I'm pretty much on No-S now, besides spreading my S-days out a bit. I'll either have one big dessert or 2 smaller ones, so I don't eat a crazy amount on my S-days. I've started eating a lot ...

Thanks. :)

Your right oolala, my current diet is very similar to No S. I actually found this place a while ago by googling 'no snacking', however I was too addicted to sugar to give up my sweets all week. Just cutting back to once a day was hard enough. Until now that is!

You've already successfully changed one habit (cutting out snacks, seconds and sweets on N days). Now you need to change another. You want to cook your own healthy meals but find it difficult to motivate yourself. You live alone - That's good, you get to eat whatever you want to eat. :P I've heard p...

Finally gotten over my sugar craving!

I started dieting several years ago and have been in maintenance for almost a year now. I did this by quitting grazing on junk food all day and eating 3 healthy meals instead, with one sweet treat per day as part of a meal. I'd always look forward to my treat. Often I couldn't resist having it with ...

It can be hard to suddenly stop eating your favourite snacks. If you really want to start eating healthier, go ahead and have them as part of a meal but try to gradually cut down on them over time. I used to be a crisp addict. Once I decided to stop snacking, I'd still eat a few packs a week as part...

I usually eat my meals at a set time each day, but occasionally I won't be hungry at lunch time and so will delay it for an hour or two. I'll have late dinners whenever I eat out as well. I don't think it matters when you eat, the most important thing is what and how much you eat. Spread out your me...

Re: Surprise! I'm not an animal!

In fact, I think I'm making better choices because I AM hungry. Same here. Whenever I used to feel peckish I'd just grab something unhealthy to munch on. Now I'll often feel very hungry before dinner time but I don't even think about snacking, only a nice hot meal will satisfy me. It is crazy how s...

I never used to be a breakfast person...

For most of my life I skipped breakfast. I'd been told it was the most important meal of the day, but I never had much of an appetite in the morning. Now when I wake up, it's been about 14 hours since my last meal and I am very hungry. I used to have long lie-ins, not wanting to get up and feeling g...

I'm curious to know how you got through the holidays last year. You must have started this not long before. (Though it's not really an issue for me anymore, either. I get plenty of great holiday food at meal times.) And, how have you handled having to adjust meal times, if you did, to accommodate e...

So your problem is that period between lunch and dinner. Maybe experiment with eating different things for lunch? Most people find that meat and fats fill them up so try making a lamb stew or a creamy pasta sauce. I think you should vary your meals a bit. You say you usually eat veggie curry or soup...

That's great news!

You really do appreciate food more when you only eat 3 times a day. It's nice to sit down to a proper meal that you've been looking forward to because you haven't been munching on snacks all day long.

Haha I'm capable of eating a ridiculous amount of sweets so I have to control their portion sizes. Ice cream i'll eat in a tea cup instead of a bowl for example. The problem with sweets is that they don't really fill you up. I was hungry when I woke up, had ginger cake with maple syrup for breakfast...

Thanks. Yeah I came up with it myself. It was difficult at first to stick to 3 meals a day. I just wasn't used to being hungry because I'd eat something as soon I began to feel peckish. Sometimes I'd eat when I wasn't even hungry, just because it tasted so good. I found the best way to stick ...

Yeah I was quite jealous of my youngest brothers school menu when I first saw it a few years ago. When I was in school I'd usually have oven chips, 'pizza' (half a burger bun with cheese on top), a cupcake and a small coke. The only vegetables were beans and peas which I don't like. They also had ch...

I lost a lot of weight on a diet similar to NoS.

So here's the diet plan I've been following for about 9 months. The Rule: 3 meals a day. No snacks. The Guidelines: Every meal must taste great! Buy fresh ingredients, avoid processed crap. Eat plenty of vegetables. Keep portion sizes small (unless it's mostly veggies). No more than one treat a day,...
