I eat ONE meal a day, and a dessert and that's it. Weekends I enjoy a little I'll have 2 meals which helps make up any deficiencies. This ...

I don't personally count tasting as a fail, as long as it is actual tasting for a necessary reason and not snacking in disguise. Although it sounds to me like it was actually a snack for you this time. Your mention of banana bread reminds me that I am overdue to make some banana nut muffins... whoo...

Sweet meals?
I've been thinking of replacing two of my meals with sweet meals to help out my sweet tooth. Now this can be in the form of veggies (sweet potato, corn, peas ect), or fruit or whatever else sounds sweet and nutritious. But I'm having trouble coming up with ideas. Breakfast is really easy, I can make...

Look at your signature block: Forget everything you learned. Were you happy counting calories? If so, what drew you to No-S? I was for a while. I don't want to worry about what to eat anymore. In my experience, the conventional wisdom regarding calorie restriction does not work. If you restrict calories for a long time, your metabolism adjusts downward, so that when you add them back in, you gain weight. Maintenance after dieting is extremely difficult for that reason, and it's a large p...

A bit of unsolicited advice: make sure you're eating enough. I saw you're using an 8-inch plate, and many of your meals sound so small that they definitely would not tide me over until the next time. Two things: 1. Cut back on processed foods since there is a lot sugar in those. I think those habituate us to the sweet taste. When you cut out a lot of processed food you regain your sense of what is "too sweet" so it takes a lot less to get overloaded. YMMV. 2. Don't keep sweets in the house. If ...

Do you cook? If not, eat more homemade food and less prepared-outside-the-home food. I think it's hard to track calories in homemade food without a lot of weighing and a calculator. I also do the half plate USDA as a guideline rather than a rule. It works for me. Hi there! I don't cook often althou...

Trying to quit sweets, any help?
Okay so it's not exactly like the noS policy. But the trouble is when I have them, I can't stop eating them until I'm litterally physically sick. I've tried to learn moderation but that all goes out my ass when I taste them. I must clarify, I'm NOT cutting out SUGAR, just SWEETS. I'll still allow my...

One of the great things NoS does is to focus on the biggest offenders. I focused on the main things first and then finetuned way down the road. So my suggestion is not to worry about the gum and the drink for now and once your habits are stable you can tackle them if you feel like it. I gave up all...

Gum?
I usually chew gum between meals because my mouth seems to want to be busy all the time. I also drink infused carbonated water (to replace soda and because it fills me up when I'm hungry). Are these considered cheats or something when you think about No snacking?

I've lost a lot of weight counting calories but I really want to STOP thinking about food as a number! I plan on doing the NOS diet and also mash in the USDA's half plate rule with it as it's the easiest way to make sure I eat balanced. I've come to HATE it when people think food is all about calor...
