Welcome, Dee! I think a lot of people reading your post (including me) will be able to identify with what you wrote. At another website I posted this: Weight Loss Tip: Learn to Draw a Double Line In my weight loss journey, there are lots of places my head can be. It might be buried in the sand becau...

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all who trod this board. One of the things that I am very grateful for is a way of eating that allows me to relax on Thanksgiving. No thoughts of blowing my diet which has always lead me to eat more than I otherwise would (I've already blown it, so...) No feelings of resentment...

Sometimes instead of thinking what I can't do, I try to think of what I can do. So, for example, can you commit to No S between breakfast and lunch? I had a friend who was very successful beginning that way. After a month, she went No S until dinner and eventually was able to do the whole thing. If ...

Thanks, mustloseweight and oolala53. I have been compliant on N days until yesterday when I woke up in the middle of the night and felt compelled to eat a small snack. But, today, I'm back on track. I agree wholeheartedly that just getting from meal to meal without snacking and really enjoying the f...

Junk Food Junkie

I am not (yet) one of those overweight people who live a life of purity and light. I consider myself a junk food junkie. Maybe because junk food junkie-ing is the opposite of dieting and those are the primary forms of relating to food I have had in my life. Maybe because I'm "addicted" to sugar (tho...

Thanks, Amy for posting the podcast. I'm trying to do regular meals with breakfast at 7:00 a.m., Lunch 5 hours later at 12:00 p.m. and Dinner 6 hours after that at 6:00 p.m. 13 hour overnight fast. It seems like such a long time as I'm writing it out, but the experience of it is that I only realize ...

Hunger

As I’ve switched over to the one-and-done, 3 meals a day scheme from the No S Diet, I have experienced something I haven’t for a long time: genuine, mouth salivating, uncomfortable pangs of hunger. I think my snacking habit was more developed than I thought as previously to beginning the No S Pl...

Personally, I would chew sugar free cinnamon gum rather than suck on peppermints and I would not eat a chocolate cereal on an N day. I am finding that the relegation of all sweets to the S days is helping me so much that I am willing to forgo even the appearance of one on an N day. For me, it is abo...

I cannot believe how easy it is for me to relax "a little" on the weekends. I would have thought I would go crazy but again I find that being able to eat anytime and anything doesn't have the same appeal for me it had when I was "dieting." I guess the best way to describe it (besides sheer happiness...

The book mentions that modifications can lead you astray. Having just started myself, I can see how that could happen as I have an endless capacity to kid myself about what I'm doing when it comes to diet. Though it is hard, I am following the No S rules as written because I have come to believe tha...

I'm with you. If my mother had taught me "no snacks" instead of "any time you're hungry snacks" I would never have developed a weight problem at all as I am not a big meal eater. Trying to get a child with or without the whole family to "diet" is pretty grim and doesn't usually work with unhappiness...

Thanks oolala. I've really enjoyed reading your posts and admire your commitment not just to your plan but to the people who come here with questions. What I like most about the No S plan is the idea of returning to a natural weight naturally. It did not jump on me in 12 weeks (more like 12 years), ...

I'm doing the vanilla version with one small modification: instead of milk as an emergency filler (for example when I teach a class that gets me home at 8:30 p.m.), I use a whey protein shake.

Thanks, Swarah! His name is Edison -- he's a Shih-Tzu/Pomeranian mix we got from a shelter a couple of years ago. Just the sweetest, friendliest, happiest dog I've ever known. Loves everyone and everything. The love is returned from all who meet him too! :D

New and excited!

Hi all, I had read about the "No S" plan 10 years ago and filed it away as an interesting idea but one that could never work for me because I needed to be on a "real diet." Here I am 10 years later, 50 pounds heavier and finally realizing that the attempts to do Weight Watchers, Atkins, South Beach,...
